Kumba Regional Hospital Annex Director recognised for meritorious service to population.

Director of Kumba Regional Hospital Annex, Dr Enongene Paul Ngang, brandishing his meritorious award

The Director of the Kumba Regional Hospital Annex, Dr Enongene Paul Ngang, has awarded a prestigious humanitarian award for his meritorious service to provide quality healthcare to the population of Kumba, Meme Division in general and its environs. 



The award was conferred on him by a Douala-based nonprofit organisation, Grass to Grace, G2G, affiliated to the United Nations CISRI Mission, a permanent observatory organ of the United Nation.

The medic was handed the award recently. This was during a ceremony at the Kumba I Council.

The organiser of the event cum founder and CEO of Grass to Grace organisation, His Royal Majesty Chief Thomas Fotang, said he and his team were particularly elated by the developmental projects carried out by the director.

He cited the Director’s his unmatched savvy in transforming the Kumba District Hospital into a regional hospital annex thus meeting with the health needs of the population of Meme, Ndian and part of Kupe Muanenguba. 

He also mentioned the construction of an imposing administrative block of the hospital to create more offices for doctors and other staff amongst others things. 

Speaking after receiving the recognition, Dr Enongene Paul Ngang said the award bestowed on his humble person is as a result of team work.

He said the award will serve as a motivation to all the staff, including the ward mates to do more in the respect place of work.

Since his appointment as director of the health facility in 2019, the charismatic senior gynecologist has since brought about reforms which have kept the health facility into a class of its own. 

Dr Enongene Paul Ngang who was serving at the Douala Regional Hospital before his appointment, thanked the population of Kumba and its environs for their constant support, love and maturity showed towards the hospital especially during the fire incident of February 11, 2019.

He said the donation from sons of daughters who live in the United States of America, the assistance offered the families who were wounded in the mother Francisca Bilingual College shooting in 2020 and the always ready assistance offer to bereaved families interns of exoneration are all the qualities that made him won the humanitarian awards.

Dr Enongene went further to state that before the Kumba Health District was split into Kumba North and South, the Kumba Health District used to be the largest of the 18 health District in the South West Region.

The Kumba Regional Hospital Annex, it should be noted, was created in the 1930s. It has stood the test of time thanks to its rigorous management style by the different experts charge with the day-to-day running of the health facility. 

Before the fire incident in 2019, the hospital had a bed capacity of 150 with at least three specialists and over ten general practitioners.
