Celebrated journalist and jurist of exceptional class, Dr Ashu Nyenty, has bagged an immaculate recognition for his flair, composure and mastery of contemporary issues in television program anchoring.



Dr Ashu Nyenty of Cameroon Radio Television, CRTV fame, currently serving as Chief Unity Correspondent with focus on the Head of State’s activities, got the distinction recently. He now has to his credit, in addition to other awards, that of Cameroon‘s “Best TV Program Presenter”.

It is a recognition from the Cameroon English Language Newspaper Publishers Association, CENPA. The recognition was unveiled during a recent ceremony at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel.

The highly guested event had in attendance members of government, diplomats, leaders of civil society organisations and traditional rulers among other dignitaries.

According to the CENPA award jury, the award handed to Dr Ashu Nyenty was “in celebration of his refined composure, professionalism and incisive presentation of the TV program, Inside The Presidency, that have left Cameroonians informed on key national and presidential activities”.

The award jury comprised the renowned Barrister Akere Muna as president. The Secretary of the Jury was Senator Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko, King of Kumba and Paramount ruler of the Bafaw.

Another member of the jury was award-winning community peace builder and civil society actor, Esther Omam. She is Executive Director of the Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO, Reach Out Cameroon. Christian Ngah, President of CENPA and Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of The Guardian Post, was also a jury member.

Laureate says recognition thrilling 

Reacting to the award, Dr Ashu Nyenty remarked that: “I am overwhelmed but at the same time humbled by such recognition. It tells you that whatever we are doing, someone, somewhere sees and can appreciate”.

The refined jurist and journalist further specified that: “I am particularly enthralled because I was given this award in my job of highlighting and giving perspective to the regalian activities of the number one citizen of this country. It means that when the chips are down, I would have brought my own little block to the edifice. It is for this reason that I sincerely thank the organisers of this landmark award".

 

Dr Ashu Nyenty in brief 

The award-winning CRTV journalist is an editorialist. Before being sent to serve as Chief Unity Palace Correspondent, the senior journalist and scholar had served as Political Desk Editor and Editor-in-Chief at the CRTV National Station.

When it comes to education, Dr Ashu Nyenty’s trajectory is inspiring.  He holds Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, from the Advanced school of Mass Communication, ASMAC. 

He also holds post-graduate certificates in journalism from the universities of Birmingham and Oxford in the United Kingdom. 

Dr Ashu Nyenty is also holder of the prestigious Chevening Fellowship, during which he studied political theories and democracy.

His repertoire also shows he has two Master’s Degrees. One of them is in Political Science and the other in law, with specialty in Regional Integration Law. 

Dr Ashu Nyenty also holds a Doctor of Philosophy, PhD, in law, specialising in International Human Rights Law.

Dr Ashu Nyenty is a household name and refined expert in legal reporting. He has written several authoritative articles on law and journalism in many national newspapers. Dr Ashu Nyenty is also an author.
