Douala: Access Bank sponsors premiere of epic movie, ‘When the Levees Broke’.

International financial conglomerate, Access Bank Cameroon, was official sponsor of the world premiere of award-winning movie, ‘When The Levees Broke’.



The phenomenal Cameroonian movie directed by celebrated filmmaker, Musing Derick, was premiered Saturday August 3, at Canal Olympia, Douala of the Littoral Region.

The epic movie with close to 20 awards to its credit was screened in Douala after almost two years of touring the globe and garnering multiple awards and recognitions.

According to the Head of Retail and Business Banking for Access Bank Cameroon, Franklin Fobah, partnering with ‘When The Levees Broke’ was essential as Access Bank recognises the need for the infusion of cash into the Cameroon film industry to ensure sustainability and play their part to the industry's growth.

The cast and crew of the movie were present at the star-studded movie premiere, with lead characters, Stephanie Tum, and Nollywood heartthrob, Efa Iwara, stealing the spotlight.

Stephanie Tum, a native of Menchum Division, arrived Canal Olympia, surrounded by her army of fans and family, led by a dancing troop that captured the attention of her co-star, Nollywood heartthrob Efa Iwara.

The classic Cameroonian movie was released in 2022. Aside its popular filmmaker, Musing Derick, and renowned actresses, Stephanie Tum, celebrated Nigerian actor, Efa Iwara and Musing Derick are also part of the movie.

The movie is one of the most awarded Cameroonian movies, internationally. It is an engrossing one-character movie starring multiple award-winning actress, Stephanie Tum.

She plays the role of Barrister Ngwe Fidel, who finds herself muddled in one of the largest schemes in her country. She is ensnared in a quandary. 

Her decision unleashes tumultuous carnage ‘When The Levees Broke’.

The movie has won over 17 awards and has been nominated for several movie festivals. 

Some of the festivals include, Cameroon International Film Festival, CAMIFF, Ecrans Noir Movie Festival, Zanzibar International Film Festival, ZIFF and African Film Festival, TAFF. 

The movie was in 2023 nominated at the Silicon Valley African Film Festival, California along with “The Planters Plantation”, another Cameroonian movie to represent Cameroon at the festival. 

The movie has captured the minds of people as award nominations keep coming in. 

The full cast of the movie include: Tangye Bih, Efa Iwara, Stephanie Tum, Syriette Che, Gelam Dickson, Steve Fonkam, Tebo Njei, Claudio Oben, Sunshine Bos, Njang Mengu Collins, Nabil Fongod, Pamela Happi, Alenne Menget, Ndem Nora, Ngong Tatiana and Musing Derick.
