Two police officers and a commercial bike rider have been shot dead in Bamenda, chief town of the restive North West Region.

The security officers were killed Wednesday as bike riders in Bamenda paraded the streets with the corpse of their colleague who died in an accident a week ago.

The two police officers, whose names The Guardian Post could not immediately get, were killed at about 7:00p.m., by gunmen who had apparently infiltrated the crowd of bike riders who were parading the streets.

The police officers were shot and killed in front of a popular bank at the Commercial Avenue neighbourhood, Bamenda II Subdivision.

According to information gathered from sources around the area, the incident occurred when some bike riders took to the streets to mourn their colleague, a certain Godlove.

The native of Awing in Santa Subdivision had died in an accident at City Chemist Roundabout about a week ago.

Reliable sources say the police officers who were on duty at the bank were targeted and shot multiple times by a group of gunmen from the crowd.

The Guardian Post couldn’t independently confirm if the gunmen were separatist fighters or armed robbers.

    Another bike rider killed

After Wednesday’s night killing of the two police officers, a bike rider was shot dead on Thursday morning by security officers, at Commercial Avenue.

Report says the rider was shot after he forced himself into a path that was blocked by security officers.
