Meme SDO bags int’l awards for bravery in fight insecurity.

The Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Meme Division of the South West Region, Ntou'ou Ndong Chamberlin, has received an award for his bravery in fighting insecurity in his area of command.

The award was conferred on him Friday August 2.



The recognition is from Douala-based non-governmental organisation, Grass to Grace, G2G, affiliated to the United Nations CISRI Mission, a permanent observatory organ of the United Nations, UN.

Accepting the award for bravery in the fight against insecurity, banditry, terrorism and organised crimes, Ntou'ou Ndong Chamberlin, said he was particularly elated with the recognition.

He added that he was pleased to know that the work he is doing as SDO is being appreciated. The SDO dedicated the awards to his collaborators in the Division, saying such awards are thanks to team work.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the population, internal and external elite of Meme with whom he says has been working tirelessly for the peace, normalcy that the division is enjoying today.

“Recognition like this only comes to give more impetus to what we have already been doing and to encourage us to do more in our different assignments given to us," Ntou'ou Ndong noted. 

The SDO then called for concerted efforts across the Division in the fight against insecurity and banditry. He urged the population to continue sincere collaboration with the administrative authority for the growth of the Division.

Meanwhile, the organiser of the event, Thomas A Fotang, third class traditional ruler and Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations CISRI Cameroon, and founder of the non-governmental organisation, Grass to Grace, G2G, said he and his team were inspired by the contributions of the Meme boss since he assumed office as SDO in September 2017.

The Senior Divisional Officer, he said, has been working tirelessly for the growth of the Division in the fight against insecurity, terrorism and organised crimes. Fotang added that the SDO has been not been leaving any stone unturned in working towards a return of normalcy in the Meme.

Despite the threats, the senior civil administrator has successfully, with his collaborators, are said to have convinces over 80 young people to leave the bushes and join the Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration, DDR, centre.

His high sense of professionalism in settling dispute amongst villages and elite of the Division, have also been hailed.
