Fon Chafah bestows traditional title on US Ambassador.

The traditional recognition was bestowed during a recent ceremony held at the Fon’s cosy palace in Yaounde. 

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Interim Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, Prof Fuh Calistus; the General Manager of CAMTEL, Judith Yah Sunday epse Achidi, and a host of other guests. 

After receiving the traditional title, the US diplomat used the opportunity to discuss a range of issues with Fon Chafah XI. 

The Guardian Post gathered that they talked about the ongoing armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions and other issues touching on the lives of Cameroonians in general. 

To note that the traditional title comes at a time when Ambassador Lamora’s mandate is drawing to an end. He has been appointed as US Ambassador to the Central African Republic, CAR.

Ambassador Lamora is a career member of the US Senior Foreign Service, class of Minister-Counselor. He had previously occupied several functions within the US foreign service. 

Before his appointment to Cameroon, Ambassador Lamora was Chargé d’Affaires at interim at the US Embassy in Malabo-Equatorial Guinea. 

He also served as Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy in Accra, Ghana, and Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central Africa and African Security Affairs. 

Ambassador Lamora also held positions as the Director of the Office of Central African Affairs and the Deputy Director of the Office of Economic and Regional Affairs in the African Affairs Bureau. 

Ambassador Lamora has over 32 of years of foreign service experience, with extensive work on African policy, security, and economic development. That experience, coupled with his demonstrated leadership skills make him a well-qualified for several functions.
