Officials at end of ceremony to install plague

Government, alongside the United Kingdom, UK, have hailed the Yaounde-based MADA International College for its dedication to academic excellence and commitment to grooming young innovative leaders.

The appraisal was made on Monday July 29 in Yaounde.



This was during a ceremony to install the plaque and logo of Cambridge International Education and the British Council Partner School at MADA International College. 

It comes after the school’s accreditation as a Cambridge school. The event took place at the esplanade of the school campus.

Presiding over the plaque ceremony was the Secretary General of the Centre Region Governor’s Office, Etsil Simon. He represented the Governor of the Centre Region, Naseri Paul Bea, at the event.

On behalf of government, Etsil congratulated MADA International College for its Cambridge accreditation. He described the achievement as a remarkable feat and milestone for the institution and its learners. 

“MADA is a prestigious school that brings honour to education in Cameroon. Education is the cornerstone of progress and development. Institutions like MADA International College play a pivotal role in shaping the minds and future of our youth, which tie with the vision of the Head of State,” the Governor’s representative noted.

He added that MADA International College has demonstrated steadfast commitment in providing prestigious and world-class education to its learners.

Etsil said the accreditation by Cambridge is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the institution.

“The plaque we have unveiled here today is a reflection of the institution’s rigorous standard and continuous pursuit of excellence, innovation, inclusivity and international cooperation between Cameroon and the UK. It will open doors to worldwide opportunities for our children, empowering them to compete on a global stage and be leaders of tomorrow,” Etsil declared.

He furthered that government will continue to support education, given that it is the building block of a prosperous and empowered Cameroon. He then encouraged parents to seize the opportunity to provide their children with quality education that will lay the foundation for a bright and prosperous future for themselves and the country.

“Together, let us champion excellence in education in Cameroon, and empower our youth to become change makers of the country and continent,” Etsil underscored.

Congratulations galore

Speaking at the ceremony, the British High Commissioner to Cameroon, H.E Barry Lowen, saluted MADA International for the recognition, and praised the school for the work it is doing in raising future generations.

“This mark of excellence, I am sure, will help MADA provide its students with 21st century education. It will continue to be a contribution to modern bilateral partnerships, based on respect between Cameroon and the UK,” the diplomat said.

For her part, the British Council Country Director, Caroline Ndifor, highlighted that the accreditation is a demonstration of the school’s relentless efforts in the pursuit of excellence.

“MADA International College is a leader in grooming young Cameroonians who are critical thinkers, analytically driven and who are equipped to face international competition. Our job at the British Council is to encourage schools like MADA which embrace the curriculum of the UK,” Ndifor reiterated.

She added that the British Council will continue to guide and give MADA the necessary tools to empower young learners.

Enter MADA International College founder

The Founder of MADA International College, Marie Therese Nana, expressed gratitude and immense thanks to God for the recognition by Cambridge.

While noting that the accreditation is as a result of five years of hard work, she pointed out that it will give an added value to learners. She said those who study at the school will become more innovative and be able to meet up with the challenges of the 21st century.

“This accreditation will put our pupils and students at the top, making them torch bearers, pacesetters, trailblazers and pathfinders. They will set examples that the education system of today needs,” the founder said beaming with pride and smiles.

She added that the raison d’etre of the international section was to elevate the educational experience at MADA International College and empower learners with skills to thrive in a rapidly changing world. 

She said the target aligns with the Head of State’s vision 2035 and Sustainable Development Goals 4 to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education that promotes lifelong learning opportunities for all.

“We are committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders and thinkers. I am confident that MADA International College stands at the forefront of innovation and educational advancement, guided by the values of excellence, integrity, and inclusivity,” Nana stated.
