Bamendakwe people living in USA in jovial mood with Fon Forchesiri III

The traditional ruler of Bamendankwe, in Mezam Division of the North West Region, His Royal Majesty Fon Forchesiri III, is on a visit to the United States of America, USA, to galvanise his subjects to boost socioeconomic, infrastructural and cultural development back home in the village.

The Fon, who flew out of the country from the Douala International Airport in the evening of Tuesday July 23, arrived Minnesota, USA at about 8 p.m. local time on Thursday July 25.

On Tuesday July 23, Bamendankwe indigenes resident in Douala had turned out in their numbers at the Douala International Airport to see off the traditional ruler.

The National President of Bamendankwe Cultural and Development Association, BAMEDCA, Tantoh Emmanuel, who led the delegation to see off the Fon at the airport, told the The Guardian Post in a telephone interview, that: “We were at the Douala International airport to see off HRM Fon Forchesiri III of Bamendankwe. As the President General of the Bamendankwe Development and Cultural Association, BAMEDCA, I am very happy with the turnout of the population and the Mbagalum dance group that came out to see off the Fon”.

He added that: “This is the first time our Fon is travelling out of the country since he was enthroned some three years ago. This is a great moment. It is a very important moment for him to go and visit the Bamendankwe community in the diaspora where he will hold meetings to discuss avenues for more development to be brought back home”.

“The visit is significant as the Fon will communion with his subjects and the entire Bamendankwe community over there. We wish the Fon the best of this trip, and just as we mobilised to see him off, we will mobilise again to welcome him upon his return,” Tantoh continued.

He also noted that: “I want to express total satisfaction and thank the President of BAMEDCA Douala Branch for mobilising the population that came out to see off the Fon”.

Meanwhile, also speaking to The Guardian Post in a telephone conversation shortly after Fon Forchesiri III arrived at Minnesota, USA, the Secretary General of BAMEDCA USA, Bestos Fongoh, disclosed that the Fon was warmly welcomed at the airport by sons, daughters, and friends of Bamendankwe, who sang traditional songs to mark the occasion.

“The atmosphere was filled with joy as they welcomed His Royal Majesty on his inaugural visit to the United States. A daughter of Bamendankwe extended a warm welcome by presenting a bouquet of flowers to the Fon. With a gracious smile, His Royal Majesty greeted the elite, expressing his appreciation for their presence and warm reception. Following the welcome ceremony, the Fon was escorted to where he will be resident to rest after nearly two days of travel,” Fongoh added.

Today Friday July 26 will mark the start of BAMEDCA USA National Convention, during which Fon Forchesiri III is expected to be present.

It should be noted that since his enthronement some three years back, Fon Forchesiri III has been mobilising his subjects at home and abroad to foster development in the village.

He has visited his subjects in towns around Cameroon to urge them to all put hands on deck to fast-track development. The visits took him to Buea, Yaounde, Limbe, Douala and Bafoussam.
