The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, will today, on behalf of the Head of State, Paul Biya, inaugurate the cement production company, CIMPOR Cameroon.

The Star Building occupant arrived the seaside town of Kribi in the South Region, Thursday, ahead of the ceremony.

The Head of Government was welcomed at the entrance to Kribi, by administrative authorities, led by the Governor of the South Region, Felix Nguele Nguele.

Municipal authorities of Kribi, elite, traditional rulers and a mammoth crowd of the population, including supporters of the ruling CPDM party, were also on hand to welcome the Head of State’s representative.

After walking pass a cross section of defence and security forces operating in Kribi, the PM then shook hands with members of the constituted corps of the South Region.

The CIMFOR Cement factory, currently operating in the industrial and ports area of Kribi, is the sixth cement factory in the country.

It has a production capacity of one metric tone per year. The factory will help boost cement production in the country to reach eight metric tonnes per year.

The inauguration today comes after an inspection visit to the facility, weeks back by the Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, Prof Fuh Calistus Gentry.

The CIMPOR factory is aiming to substitute clinker with clay in the production of affordable cement products. This in line with the import-substitution policy powered by the President Biya.

The factory is expected to respect international norms, especially in noise and dust level controls.
