Chantal Andely appointed ANOR interim Director General.

Members of the board unanimously chose her to continue piloting the affairs of ANOR, in replacement of Charles Botoo À Ngon, who died on June 29, 2024, while serving as Director General of ANOR.

The decision appointing Chantal Andely was taken in Yaounde, on July 10, 2024. This was during the sixteenth Extraordinary Session of ANOR.

The session was chaired by the President of the Board of Directors of the public institution, Mohamadou Bayero Fadil. 

The statement, released after the meeting, indicated that the Board scrutinised “…the provisions of Article 42, Paragraph 3, of the law of July 12, 2017, relating to the General Status of Public Establishments; and Article 34, Paragraph 3, of the Decree of March 19, 2019, reorganising the Standards and Quality Agency,” to take the move. 

A statement further indicated that the Board members present, unanimously “in application of the above-mentioned provisions, appointed Mrs Andely née Momo Ndongo Chantal, Deputy General Director, as interim, pending the appointment of a new Director General by the authority vested with the power of appointment”.

Previously Deputy Director General of ANOR, Chantal Andely, who hails from the Mbam and Inoubou Division of the Centre Region, is recognised with great expertise in the fields of standardisation, certification and quality management. 

She will now have to take up the challenge of continuing the work left behind by her late predecessor, while stamping her own mark in order to enable ANOR to adapt to current economic challenges. 

The interim Director General will be responsible for maintaining and increasing the central role of the Agency in supporting the competitiveness of national enterprises, promoting product excellence, and international outreach of Cameroonian know-how.

About ANOR

The public institution, with legal personality and financial autonomy, was created by Presidential Decree No. 2009/296, of September 17, 2009.

ANOR is placed under the technical supervision of the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, MINMIDT, and under the financial supervision of the Ministry of Finance, MINFI. 

It has as main mission to contribute to the development and implementation of government policy in the field of standardisation and quality in Cameroon.

This, in collaboration with the administration as well as public and private organisations. The institution is responsible for the development and approval of standards, certification of compliance with standards, promotion of standards and the quality approach among public administrations, para-public administration and private sector organisations.

It also monitors cooperation with international organisations and specialised committees in the field of standardisation and quality, conducts studies relating to standardisation and developing proposals for measures aimed at improving the quality of products and services, as well as compliance with standards. ANOR also disseminates information and documentation on standards.
