UB’s Higher Teachers Training College gets pioneer Director.

Prof Ndip who served as the Director of Students Affairs in the same university since June 23, 2022, was appointed on July 10. 

This was in a Presidential Decree No 2024/293 of 10 July 2024 signed by President Paul Biya.

Her appointment comes over a month after a Presidential Decree of No 2024/166 of May 24, 2024, created Higher Teachers Training College, HTTC, at the University of Buea.

With the head of the institution now in place, the implementation phase of Decree No. 2024/166 has kicked off, and other staff members are expected to be appointed progressively.

As the first Director of the new college, the academia of Buea is looking forward to experience Prof Ndip use her rich academic savoir-faire in laying a solid foundation for the institution.

About Prof Mande Ayamba

She was born on June 26, 1970, in Buea, South West Region. She later went on to study at the University of Uyo, Nigeria, where she bagged a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology in 1994. 

In 1997, she acquired a Master’s Degree in Medical Microbiology from Edo State University, Nigeria. Seven years later, she defended her Doctorate Degree in Medical Microbiology in the University of Buea. 

Recruited as Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Life Science in University of Buea in June 1998, she has held several administrative posts. 

She has been Head of Service, Teaching and Research from November 2005 to December 2011.

From March 2013 to November 2015, she was Head of Department of Biomedical Science Faculty of Health Science of UB and also cumulated as Acting Post-Graduate Coordinator in the Faculty of Health Science from October 2014 to November 2015.

She became Associate Professor in Microbiology in 2012. Still in the University of Buea, she served as Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Internal Control and Evaluation from November 2015 to August 2019.

From 2019 to 2022, Prof Ndip served as Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Research, Cooperation and Relations with the Business World

The Infections Disease Laboratory located in the Premises of the University of Buea has been under the supreme care of Prof. Ndip. 

It served as a reference laboratory in Cameroon during the COVID-19 pandemic era. Diagnoses of most recent cholera outbreaks in the South West Region have been done in the laboratory. 

Presently, it is being used in the training on non-communicable diseases. Prof Mande Ayamba Ndip is author of two books and over 50 peer reviews publications to her credit.
