Musician, Atango De Manadjama, cheats death in road accident.

Artiste, Atango De Manadjama, has survived a road crash. This was on Wednesday July 3 along the Bafoussam-Yaounde highway.

The musician is said to have boarded a car with his son, Appolinaire Ngoh, who also sustained injuries when the accident occurred.

It is reported that Atango and his son were rushed to the Ad Lucem Hospital in Efok near Obala in Lekie Division of the Centre Region, for medical attention. His son is said to have been severely wounded on his thigh.

The accident comes in the wake of multiple road accidents particularly in the West Region that have claimed at least 10 lives in recent days.

The most recent of such ghastly accidents was that involving an intercity transport agency Vatican Express.

It happened around Makenene in the Mbam and Inoubou Division of the Centre Region. The bus overturned, leaving several passengers wounded.

Before now, the most deadly accident occurred on June 25 around the Dchang Cliff in the Menoua Division of the West Region. It involved a 19-seater bus belonging to Mondial Express.

The bus is said to have suffered a brake failure, ramming into the bush, claiming six lives and leaving over 20 passengers wounded.

A few days ago, a heavy duty truck transporting sand in Limbe, Fako Division of the South West Region lost control and plunged into commuters, killing four persons.

The repeated accidents have left citizens in fright especially those who are considering traveling during this holiday period.

One of such persons, Njoumo Janet, told The Guardian Post that due to the multiple accidents: “I have decided to stop travelling for now”.

To note that the Ministry of Transport, Jean Ernest Messena Ngalle Bibehe, has sanctioned drivers and travel agencies but the accidents have remained on the rise.

On Wednesday July 3, the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, while opening the first semester conference of regional governors for 2024, blamed the rising road accidents on recklessness.
