Access Bank Cameroon affirms commitment to collaborate with financial regulators.

Seyi was accompanied to the Central Bank by the Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Madame Patience MELONE, the Managing Director of Access Bank Cameroon Plc, Mr. Ellis NZO ASU, the Chief Financial Officer of Access Bank Cameroon Plc, Mr. Armel TCHOUMBOU, and the Head of Treasury, Mr. Jean Jaurès PETNGA.

It was an occasion to congratulate the Governor, Mr. Yvon SANA BANGUI for his appointment. He also discussed the bank's plans to promote financial inclusion, digital innovation, and sustainable development in its operations. 

Affirming commitment to strategic partnerships, Mr. KUMAPAYI said, “We strongly recognize that true prosperity is built on a foundation of inclusive growth and economic development, thus, we are committed to shaping economic landscapes and empowering individuals and businesses alike”. 

The Governor of BEAC commended Access Bank for its achievements and beneficial influence on the African economy. He highlighted the need for banks to focus on intra-African trade and payments, promoting financial inclusion, backing SMEs, particularly in the agriculture sector.

"The financial sector has a pivotal role to play in advancing our economic agenda," he stated. "By channeling resources into these underfunded areas, banks can help create a more inclusive and prosperous economy."

The discussions also covered the regulatory approvals needed for the acquisition of Standard Chartered Bank's (SCB) assets in Cameroon. Seyi reassured Yvon Sana about Access Bank’s readiness to adhere to all regulatory standards and collaborate closely with the Central Bank during the process. "Our integration with Standard Chartered Bank Cameroon will deliver a wholistic service offering where Cameroon will benefit from the two institutions’ shared focus on financial inclusion, digital banking and the future possibility of Access Bank’s More than Banking philosophy. Customers, employees, stakeholders and the people of Cameroon will benefit from greater growth opportunities, driven by combined staff skills set and Access Bank’s ethos of sustainable banking."

In a closing statement, the ED reiterated the bank's long-term vision of contributing to the economic empowerment of African nations. He assured that Access Bank would continue to work closely with regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and communities to achieve shared goals.
