GBHS Eyumojock Ex-Students Association commissions pioneer exco.

This was during a ceremony held in Buea, of the South West Region.

At the epic event and just on the heels of his taking the mantle of the organisation, Dr Arrey declared as mission of his team, the fostering of the participation of all the ex-students of the famous institution.

He pledged to ensure inclusiveness of all ex-students irrespective of their backgrounds and ideological stance.

The pioneer president, also promised to enforce unionism to ensure that those who come from the alma mater cling together, work for its development interest and with goodwill. 

The former students from the 1982 class when the school opened its doors to date thronged in from across Cameroon to set the ball rolling for the nascent organisation.

They were in close communication with the diaspora alumni which was also proclaimed to have been actively involved in the activities of the association, contributing morally, financially and spiritually. 

In fact, a good proportion of the diaspora are members of EYUMEXSTA EXCO and were among those who were commissioned.

The quality of personalities of the school which the reunion in Buea brought appeared energising for the ex-students as they celebrated their being together after school. 

Prominently, the erstwhile Principal of the school, Agbor Manasseh Ebot, the current Principal, Anafor Gabriel and some present staff of the school, added meaning to the event.

Dr Arrey Paul Abunaw used the spur of the moment to reveal that plans have reached an advanced stage for a scheme of reward to be put in place to benefit hard-working students of the school, while encouraging the weak ones to emulate them.

He said there are also plans to build the batches of current students before they leave school, so they already stay connected and strengthen the future. 

The president acknowledged these daunting tasks require time, money and sacrifice, but asserts that it is nothing compared to the joy one has in reaching out to his alma mater and being useful.

In her earlier address, the interim President of the Association, Philomena Mbu Enonchong, largely to whose credit the association's elected executive has come into play, unreservedly thanked her mates for the commitment they have shown to develop GBHS Eyumojock. 

It is note-worthy that the new president wholly acknowledged her personal financial sacrifice for the Saturday event to sail through.

The erstwhile Principal, Agbor Manasseh Ebot, insistently cautioned the ex-students not to forget where they come from. 

Himself a member of the CPC Bali Old Boys Association, BOBA, he said, he had often encouraged GBHS Eyumojock Ex-Students to create an alumni association. 

It was a visibly accomplished Agbor seeing that the alumni association has come to fruition.

The problems, challenges

In turn, the current Principal of the school, the jovial and articulate Anafor Gabriel, seeing the alumni as people of fine frames and minds and seeing education as the mainstay of society, enjoined EYUMEXSTANS to work in the direction of upgrading the poorly equipped multimedia. 

Plus, the school has been wracked with electricity cut in the past eight years, occasioning a limited number of students going in for computer science. 

As well, no candidate has emerged yet for food science. The school has no pipe-borne or borehole water and there is a dire need for science teachers.
