Yaounde: HWLP schools children on importance of cultivating peace culture.

The peace camp, held June 18, was organised by the international peace nonprofit organisation known as Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light, HWPL.

Speaking during the event, the HWPL Branch Manager for Cameroon, Eunice Lee, acknowledged that children of today are the future of Cameroon, as such it is important to instill in them the culture of peace and to make the world a better place to live in.   

“The purpose of HWPL Peace Camp is to learn how we can spread a culture of peace and grow together as peace citizens under the name of peace,” she said, adding “can one country alone achieve world peace? No. We must all live with the intention of achieving peace for the entire global family”. 

Lee further explained that HWPL is implementing peace education through the usage of some 12 textbooks.

“These textbooks teach us how people of different personalities and cultures can come together to create order and live harmoniously and peacefully. In addition, we learn virtues such as gratitude, consideration, sacrifice, forgiveness, courtesy, and courage to peacefully resolve all issues,” she elucidated.

The Peace Camp was also marked by the making of Gratitude Flower Pots, writing of Peace Pledges, and Peace Dance.

It should be recalled that last May 25, HWPL staged a peace walk and clean-up campaign along some major streets in Yaounde. The peace initiative, which was supported by Cameroon National Youth Council, CNYC, was in commemoration of the 11th annual World Peace Day.

What is HWPL about?

HWPL is a global peace NGO founded for global peace and cessation of war.

Headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, HWPL is associated with the UN Department of Global Communications, DGC, and in Special Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council, ECOSOC. 

In keeping with the spirit of the Declaration of World Peace, the not-for-profit organisation aims to achieve world peace through the heavenly culture and restore the global community with light through the implementation of peace activities across the world.

With partner groups such as the International Women’s Peace Group, IWPG, and its affiliate group, the International Peace Youth Group, IPYG, HWPL is leading an international peace movement with leaders in all walks of life and beyond national, cultural, or ideological boundaries.

It also seeks to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals by spreading a culture of peace through various means such as forums, education, volunteer work, and campaigns.
