Raising funds to assist orphans in Y’de: Michèle Akaba foundation schedules gala charity match tomorrow.

The match will be followed by a fundraising, with the proceeds to be used to support orphans in some three orphanages in the capital city on June 23.

According to the Henriette Michèle Akaba and Friends Foundation, the intention behind the organisation of the gala charity match is to raise funds to support orphans and other disadvantaged children.

The promoter of the initiative and the partners of her foundation granted a press conference in Yaounde on Wednesday June 19.

On the essence of the said activity, Akaba said: “The objective is to help orphans and thank the Lord for the blessings. And we say to ourselves, we who are lucky enough to eat two or three a day, do we care about those who don't have this grace, that's why we decided to do it every year, because we also have to help people”.

The former player of Canon Yaounde and Louve MINPROFF women’s football club, presented some partners that will be accompanying her foundation in the project.

“We have the pleasure of receiving Spanish volunteers who have decided to join us for this edition. We have collaborators like, Alliances Zabze, Giob, and Terre Promise of Captain Aboudi Onguene, Dental Coop, who are there for dental care,” Akaba revealed.

Dental Coop, accompanying the Michèle Akaba foundation will offer dental care to disadvantaged young people during the gala match tomorrow.

Patrick Samou Tchokonte, administrative official of Dental Coop told reporters during Wednesday presser that: “The Michèle Akaba Foundation asked us to accompany them and we decided to bring something special. We decided to offer these deprived children quality dental care. We are going to do a mobile clinic and we hope that the result will be more than satisfactory”.

The Henriette Michèle Akaba Foundation & Friends which has been existing for four years now has been reaching out to the disadvantaged in the society, especially children.

About Michèle Akaba

The 32-year-old player has professional football career spans over 16 years, during which he represented clubs in Cameroon, Thailand, Turkey, Russia and Spain.

Akaba began her football career with Amazone FC in 2008 and has equally represented the country’s national women’s football team.

She played for Cameroon in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London as also played at the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup competitions organised in France and Canada respectively. She has been capped 66 times for the Indomitable Lionesses. 

Akaba also runs a football academy where young football talents are detected and trained.
