Chief Manga Williams with Cameroon’s Ambassador to US, HE Henri Essomba

The Paramount Chief of Limbe, HRM Ikanea John Elufa Manga Williams, has received a recognition in the United States of America, USA.

The recognition, in the form of a Congratulatory Citation, is from Aisha Nazapa Braveboy, State's Attorney for Prince George's County, Maryland, United States of America.

The recognition to the traditional ruler was accorded recently during one of the laps of his ongoing official visit to the US.

According to the certificate of citation, Chief Manga Williams was cited “in recognition of your accomplishments acknowledged by the Bakweri Cameroon Community”.

Aisha N. Braveboy recalled that “in 2023, Ikanea, John Elufa Manga Williams successfully championed the ‘Mbando’ celebration event that celebrated and revived the rich culture of the Bakweri and Fako communities that he leads”.

“His vision of cultural revival is being translated into reality with a plan to build a multipurpose cultural centre in Limbe that would embody cultural education, youth empowerment, through vocational training, and a museum of cultural artifacts,” the Prince George's County State’s Attorney stated.

She added that “the Paramount Ruler is also championing many philanthropic projects which include, among others, making provisions for Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, widows, and the homeless”.

It should be noted that the HRM Ikanea John Elufa Manga Williams, who is presently on an official visit to the United States of America, together with his spouse, was heartily welcomed and received by his Limbe and Fako community based in Washington.

So far, his visit has been spiced by a courtesy visit to Cameroon’s Ambassador to the USA, His Excellency Henri Essomba, and a visit to the World Bank, where he was received by Vice President and Corporate Secretary of the World Bank Group, Cameroonian-born Mercy Tembon.

He also visited the Voice of America, where he granted an interview. On Saturday June 15, the Bakweri and Fako community in general gathered to give Chief Manga Williams a respectable welcome, spiced by cultural dances, presentation of gifts, speeches, among others.

The Paramount Chief also used the opportunity to thank his people for the enormous support they extended to him during his coronation, which, he said, contributed enormously to the event’s success.

The traditional ruler, as part of the official visit, will also attend a cultural event of the Bakweri Elements Cultural and Development Association, BECDA.

At these events, the Paramount Chief is expected to preach peace, love and unity, as well as love for fatherland to his subjects and collaborators who have been supporting the activities of the chiefdom in different ways.
