Yaounde: Bafanji Fon joins subjects to honour elite, Timbieh Cletus, for role in village’s dev’t.

The traditional ruler of Bafanji Fondom in Balikumbat Subdivision, Ngokentunjia Division of the North West Region, Fon Ngwefuon II, has alongside his subjects resident in Yaounde, saluted the important role of one of theirs, Tiembieh Cletus, to the development of the community.

This was during a ceremony that took place June 8. The event took place at the esplanade of the Yaounde residence of Tiembieh.

It also served as an avenue for the celebration of a gold labour medal the State awarded to the Bafanji elite on May 31, in Douala.

The medal was awarded in recognition of Tiembieh’s over 25 years of active service to the country. The medal was handed to him by the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Gregoire Owona.

Speaking during the ceremony in Yaounde, the Fon of Bafanji, His Royal Majesty Ngwefuon II, expressed pride in having an elite like Tiembieh. Fon Ngwefon said Tiembieh has a big heart that loves and cares for his community.

“He is an elite that every Fon will be proud of having,” Ngwefuon II happily told other his hearers at the event.

The Bafanji elite has been at the fore a good number of community development projects. Among them is the empowerment of farmers through the provision of high yielding crop seeds and farming equipment. He has also organised seminars to educate farmers on mechanised agricultural techniques.

Tiembieh has also donated benches and other didactics to several community schools. He is currently the General Supervisor of the Bafanji Palace Reconstruction Project.

The project is aimed at renovating the Bafanji palace and also to make the village more attractive to visitors.

Speaking during the ceremony, Tiembieh thanked his community for the support given him. He equally thanked the government for recognizing his years of service.

“It has been a difficult journey with a lot of challenges and risks. I thank God for giving me strength and wisdom, but especially for the people around me who are always ready to give their support,” the Bafanji elite said.

While speaking to the press, Tiembieh called on the youth of Bafanji in particular and the country in general to be advocates of peace and community builders and developers.

This, he said, can only be possible if they are humble, hardworking and dedicated to making their country better.

The celebration also brought together traditional rulers from neighboring villages, clergy men, friends and well-wishers.
