At second edition of Digital Human Rights Café: MTN Cameroon unveils online portal to report child abuse.

The online platform, https://mtn.cm/foundation/protectchildonline, was made public Friday June 7, 2024. This was during the second edition of the MTN Digital Human Rights Café, which focused on Children's Protection Online. 

The event featured insightful exchanges from expert panelists. They included Donald Tchiengue from hate mitigation organisation, DefyHateNow; Simone Kwedi from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, MINPOSTEL; and Fidele Wandeu from the National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies, ANTIC.

The experts shared valuable insights on the types of cyberspace risks affecting children, the legal and regulatory framework for online child protection, and the cases of abuse reported in Cameroon.

Discussions during the event reaffirmed MTN Cameroon's commitment to ensuring responsible use of the internet by communities, by making them aware of their rights and duties online. 

Deliberations also highlighted the growing need for collaboration between parents, educators, technology companies, and government agencies to address the challenges of online child protection.
