Cameroon’s Ambassador to Vatican urges diaspora compatriots to uphold patriotic values.

Cameroon’s Ambassador to the Holy See, H.E Antoine Zanga, has urged diaspora-based compatriots to uphold exemplary and patriotic values and be good examples of the country. 

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary made the appeal during a unity ceremony held recently at the Vatican. The event was to celebrate the good relations between Cameroon and the Holy See. 



The ceremony was attended by officials from the Roman Curia and a delegation from the Sovereign Order of Malta led by its Grand Commander.

Also present at the event was Cameroon’s Ambassador to Italy, Sebastian Foumane, social partners and friends of Cameroon, members of Cameroonian diaspora, and some forty diplomatic mission heads of Holy See.

In his opening address, Ambassador Antoine Zanga explained to the guests the process that led to the unity of the two countries, and also praised the links of sovereignty between Cameroon and Malta calling on them to intensify their relations.

Ambassador Zanga also highlighted the good relations between Cameroon and the Vatican, stating that it has being an important partner in the development of the Cameroon through its social action based on education, health and the promotion of peace and justice.

Zanga noted that the Embassy of Cameroon to the Holy See is a diplomatic mission with full and equal competence as all the others in Cameroon diplomatic network.

He stated that the embassy offers all types consular services, including passport issuing, consular cards, certification of documents, and registration for the 2025 elections.

The ambassador encouraged members of the Cameroonian diaspora to continue to be of good examples and to keep the flame of patriotism burning.

The ceremony ended with a buffet rich in Cameroonian flavours opened to the guests, who were delighted to sample gastronomy inspired by all the cultural areas of the national triangle. They also danced to the rhythms of Cameroonian songs during the ceremony. 

The Cameroon and Vatican City enjoy cordial bilateral relations. The high commission's diplomatic mission's mandate is to forge stronger and closer ties between the two countries. 

Pursuing bilateral and multilateral cooperation in diverse sectors, including culture, defense, tourism, trade and investments, science and technology, security, and other fields while safeguarding mutual benefits, is vital for their relations. 

The countries are cooperating to resolve global issues like climate change, piracy, terrorism, cybersecurity, etc. Cameroon is the most important source market for tourism in Vatican City.
