Ahead of World Environment Day: Den Planet schools FINISTECH students on environmental protection.

This was during a workshop the organisation organised on the campus of FINISTECH at the Simbock neighbourhood in Yaounde. 

Some environmental protection volunteers also attended the workshop.

The exercise, officials of Den Planet said, is in prelude to the World Environment Day to be observed on Wednesday June 5.

Lectures at Monday’s workshop were tailored in line with this year’s World Environment Day theme: “Land restoration, dissertation, and drought resilience”. 

The Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Den Planet, Maroline Itambi, schooled participants on the dangers of environmental degradation as well as the benefits of tree planting. 

Speaking to the press after the training, she was blunt that: “We are commemorating the World Environmental Day with activities that we began on Thursday. It is important for the participants to understand the risk that greenhouse emissions can have on the environment”.

Itambi further indicated that it is imperative to also take actions to protect the “environment for future generations”. The best way to do this, she specified, “is by planting trees”. 

A participant at the workshop, Namuboh Wynpress, told The Guardian Post that she has learnt how to minimise carbon footprints. 

Namuboh added that she has also acquired skills in sizing up, “activities I do that emit carbon dioxide to the community. Our land is our future, so I have to do all to protect it”.

Through community-driven initiatives and broad-ranging activities, Den Planet, officials said, is making a positive impact on the environment and society.
