To make financial services more affordable: MTN Cameroon launches Mobile Money ZeroFees campaign.

In a groundbreaking move to make financial services more accessible and affordable for all, MTN Cameroon, on Wednesday May 22, launched the Mobile Money, MoMo ZeroFees campaign. 

The initiative aims to revolutionise the way clients in Cameroon manage their finances by eliminating fees on various transactions for a limited time, permitted that the client uses the MTN Mobile Money Application via their smartphones.



Since its launch in 2008, MoMo has grown exponentially, now boasting of over five million active users and 13 million accounts across the Central African sub-region. 

The platform has become a vital tool for financial inclusion, providing access to essential services to millions of people who may not have had access to traditional banking before.

 

Eliminating fees on bills and various payments 

For the next two months, MoMo users in Cameroon can pay their bills and taxes without incurring any charges. This includes payments for electricity, water, as well as other services. 
The move is expected to significantly reduce the financial burden on individuals and families, making it easier for them to manage their expenses and improve on their overall quality of life. 

 

Exciting prizes and incentives

It should be noted that as part of the MoMo ZeroFees campaign, seven lucky winners will each receive 1 million FCFA if they make payments of at least 2,500 FCFA during the campaign period. 

This incentive is designed to encourage people to use the MoMo platform and take advantage of the fee-free transactions. 

Alain Nono, General Manager of Mobile Money Cooperation, speaking at the launching ceremony said, “we think it is very important for our clients to know that we are with them”.

“This campaign is in order to fight the high cost of living witnessed by the clients,” he added.  

The MoMo ZeroFees campaign will be rolled out in two phases. The first phase will run from May 23 to June 20, while the second phase will take place from July 5 to August 3. 

This two-phase approach will allow the company to monitor the impact of the campaign and make any necessary adjustments to ensure its success.

 

Commitment to financial inclusion

MTN Cameroon's Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Mitwa Nga’ambi, stated that: “This campaign is just the beginning of more initiatives to come. The company is committed to fighting financial hardship and promoting financial inclusion in Cameroon”.

By eliminating fees and providing incentives, MoMo aims to make it easier for people to access financial services and improve their overall financial wellbeing.

It should be noted that MoMo has become a vital tool for financial inclusion, providing access to essential services to millions of people who may not have had access to traditional banking before.
