National Day celebration: Biya honors international legal expert, Barrister Essono Edouard.

It was Littoral Governor, Samuel Dieudonne Ivaha Diboua, who decorated Barrister Essono Edouard with the honorary distinction on behalf of the President of the Republic. 

This was during the celebration of the country’s 52nd edition of the National Day. The medal presentation ceremony took place May 20, at the Bessenguè ceremonial ground in the economic capital.

Barrister Essono Edouard Joseph who attended the Douala ceremony, is celebrating more than just the medal.

Not only did he join the national community in commemorating National Day, but he also took advantage of the solemn ceremony to thank the Head of State for making him Commander of the Order of Valor. 

More than a symbolic act, the recognition of Barrister Essono Edouard Joseph by the Grand Master of the National Orders is a source of encouragement for his party supporters and young people alike, not only for the good and loyal services he has rendered to the nation to date, but also as a message which calls on the political class to work towards all-round development.

Undeniable political & social achievements 

It's important to note that an entire holiday tournament, dubbed the “Unity Tournament”, was dedicated to Barrister Essono Édouard Joseph a year ago. 

The initiative came from the Development Committee of Afanayoa, a locality in the Yaounde III Subdivision. 

According to well-informed sources, it was in recognition of the work accomplished by this development-oriented personality during his five-year stay at the helm of the CPDM Afanoyoa Sub-section.

Barrister Essono had used opportunity of the sports event to urge his people to register en masse on the electoral registers for the forthcoming political consultations. 

In a bid to combine business with pleasure, he handed out school supplies and other kits to the best pupils in the locality.

On the political front, Barrister Essono Edouard Joseph is a member of the Bureau of Mfoundi III Section of the CPDM and former President of the enlarged Afanoyoa sub section of same party.

Impressive educational background 

In the diaspora, Barrister Essono has an established reputation. 

A member of the defense team at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Arusha in Tanzania, the CEMAC-certified customs expert, is an arbitrator at the International Chamber of Commerce, ICC in Paris.

Born on April 4, 1963, Barrister Essono Edouard has been a member of the working group in charge of setting up a Maritime Arbitration Center in Cameroon at the Ministry of Transport.

Since 2019, he has been Umpire at the Common Court of Justice and Arbitration, CCJAArbitration Center.

Besides being a lawyer for the State of Cameroon through the Ministry of Finance specializing in Taxation, Customs, International Financial Relations, Securities and Recovery, Barrister Essono has January 2018 been a Lawyer at the Cameroon Bar.

He has served as Rapporteur of the Foreign Relations Commission at the Bar Council, Vice-Chairman of the Finance Commission, UJAC and Member of the commission in charge of taxation.

In 2009, he served as General Rapporteur of the Follow-up Committee for the implementation of the resolutions of the Customs Enterprises Forum.

From February 13, 2002-2005, he worked at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, ICTR as Legal consultant to the defense: development and implementation of the overall defense strategy, search for exculpatory evidence, search for and preparation of witnesses and other exculpatory evidence, evaluation of incriminating evidence, preparation of pleadings, preparation of pleadings. He became a CEMAC registered Customs Expert in 1997.
