To boost Douala Clean City project: Douala Port Authority donates 175 trash cans to City Council.

Authorities of the Douala Port Authority, known by its French acronym as PAD, have handed over some 175 trash cans to Douala City Council, to help the institution boost the effective implementation of its flagship environmental sustainability programme dubbed, Douala Clean City project.
The official handing ceremony took place at the esplanade of the City Council in Bonanjo, in the Douala I Subdivision.

It was in the presence of municipal authorities that the Director General of PAD, Cyrus Ngo'o, went on to symbolically hand the trash bins to Douala City Mayor, Dr Roger Mbassa Ndine

Cyrus Ngo'o said the Port Authority has decided to support Douala City Council in its vast project, which consists of making this city a clean one, as a corporate citizen.

"We felt that we could not let this pass us by. We had to demonstrate our commitment to supporting the City Council as part of the cooperation that has united us for some time. This is why we have undertaken Initiative this year to offer bins, so that they can be used in this vast project,” Cyrus Ngo'o said.

He did not fail to congratulate the Clean City women, commonly referred to as the Clean City Amazons for the job they have been carrying out to ensure that the street are kept clean. He assured them of PAD’s continuous support to the project.

While thanking the Port Authority’s leadership for their kind gesture, Douala City Mayor, Dr Roger Mbassa Ndine, requested all corporate citizens to join the train for the benefits of city dwellers.

“The City Council and the Port Authority are inseparable twins. I am delighted that they are first to donate among all the companies that we have called to support. We hope that it will be emulated, because cleanliness in the city is everyone's business, and we all benefit from it. If the city is clean, residents will be in a better living environment, tourists and investors can really flock in and employment can follow. So we ought to make this of personal interest for the benefits of all," the City Mayor said.

The 175 garbage cans, each with a capacity of 120 litres, were symbolic all handed to the leader of the Clean City Amazons for distribution in other Subdivisions of Wouri Division.
