Former SDF chairmanship candidate, Shewa David, resigns, creates own party!.

Shewa David says goodbye to SDF

One of the candidates at last year’s race for the post of National Chairman of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, Shewa David Damuel Jestel, has parted ways with the opposition political outfit.

Shewa David who came close to winning the election as National Chairman of the SDF, announced his resignation in a letter issued over the weekend.

In the letter, copy of which The Guardian Post obtained, Shewa who came second behind winner, Joshua Osih, at the hotly contested elections held in Yaounde, said his decision to resign from the SDF was personal.

In his resignation letter, Shewa who served SDF as Divisional Coordinator for Donga Mantung wrote: “Today, I have decided to officially break the long silence after the just ended fraudulent elective convention of the 29th October 2023”.

Shewa recounted that he joined SDF party in 2003 “because of the Vision of my father…Ni John Fru Ndi and the aspirations of SDF party for Cameroonians”.

He said: “I have decided to leave my father’s house [SDF party] for the following reasons; SDF party no longer advocates peace, unity and true Democracy in Cameroon”.

He claimed his victory in the race to the SDF top job was rigged in the presence of Cameroonians “by dubious party officials, who permitted under age students from Soa, who weren't delegates from different electoral districts to vote in favour to the present Chairman”.

He said after the forceful ‘enthronement’ of Osih Joshua as the National Chairman on the October 29, 2023, the party started experiencing mass resignations of supporters, beginning from Osih Joshua's Division of origin, Ndian, on the November 6, 2023, and continued to other regions.

Shewa said he was banging the door at the SDF because “some party officials have hijacked the SDF party for money making”.

The SDF, he was blunt, “no longer defends the interest of the general public as before, thus the grassroots militants, vanguards and Cameroonians as a whole, have been abandoned”.

He said there is no transparency and accountability in the management of the party's affairs while regretting the absence of “love and social justice”.

Shewa said jealousy and backbiting have become the agenda of the day in the SDF with little or no respect of the party’s constitution.

He said party officials have not respected the will of Ni John Fru for internal reconciliation and togetherness.

“I have decided to leave my father's house, to construct my own house [a new political party] in dedication to my political mentors, Ni John Fru Ndi and Hon Dr Awudu Mbaya, for the next generation”.

Birth of new political party

In a separate document made public over the weekend, Shewa David also announced the creation of his political party.

He said the creation of the new political outfit, Democratic Liberation Party, DLP, follows the dissolution of his nascent political platform, the Social Democratic Face Front, SDFF Party.

The creation of the Democratic Liberation Party followed a general assembly meeting of the now defunct SDFF party held April 30 in Yaounde.

He said the SDFF was dissolved“due to doubts, misunderstanding, misconceptions, blackmailing from some bought over social media agents and SDF party officials saying, H.E Minister Paul Atanga Nji is the brain behind the creation of Social Democratic Face Front, SDFF to destabilise SDF party and that this party SDFF shall confuse, the SDF militants during elections”.

He said his newly formed political party will among other things, advocate a more peaceful, united, reconcile democratic nation as well as national reconciliation.

The party, Shewa noted, aims to resolve both present and future political crisis, by reducing the Presidential mandate from seven to five years, renewable once.

He said once in leadership, his political party will institute a rotating presidential seat to the ten Regions of the Country.

The Democratic Liberation Party, he continued, he will also advocate social justice, freedom of speech, association amongst others while denouncing any form of violence, marginalisation and tribalism.
