At Job Discovery-Days: National Employment Fund showcases prowess to job seekers, employers.

According to the Director of the Central Branch of the NEF, Ndziga Obama José, it was organised to let the public and partners know about the institution’s exploits and activities.

The exercise was in its 9th edition. Visitors were treated to a guided tour of the operational departments. 

They were also updated on workshops done by Employment Counselors from the intermediation, self-employment and training services. Job seekers were also put in contact with job seekers.

He was emphatic about NEF’s commitment to ensure transparency in the job market and present the best candidates to employers. 

On a continuous basis, Obama said they always update their data base, processing applications from job seekers and matching them up with the calibre of skills employers are looking for.

In addition to processing files, the NEF official noted that, they also boost the skills of some job seekers through special vocation training offers. 
He said they offer counseling and beef the capacity of job seekers on how draw good CVs, motivation letters and how to answer questions during interviews. 

Obama sized up their special outing as “…an opportunity to showcase our everyday activities to out two main targets”.

Job seekers hail initiative

Job seekers who showed up at the event saluted the exploits of NEF. According to Mvogo Nti Francois-Xavier, a job seeker, it was a beautiful experience. He thanked the organisers for inviting him to the Job Discovery-Days.

“I was well received. I was given the necessary orientations other job seekers also got the necessary information to help them in future. We were schooled on the different job fairs carried out by the institution. It was a beautiful experience,” Mvogo said.

Having long dropped an application seeking for a job as a forestry agent, Mvogo said he was happy he came in contact with a potential employer. 

“Here we see that there is nothing fake in what the NEF is doing. They give us the opportunity to have direct discussions with our potential employers and if we convince them, we get employed,” Mvogo told The Guardian Post.

He urged other job seekers to make use of the opportunities NEF is constantly offering to Cameroonian youth.

Like Mvogo, another job seeker told reporters that she came job hunting after listening to an announcement about the event on radio. 

The visitor thanked the organizes for having given her the opportunity to register her application in NEF’s data base.
