At visit to Yaounde Field: Christians beg CBC Executive President to continue pursing reforms.

The appeal of the Baptist Christians was made known during the visit of the CBC Executive President, Rev Dr Nditemeh Charlemagne, to the Yaounde Field.

The two-day visit which began April 12, saw him visiting some health institutions of the convention in Yaounde. 

He also held discussions with the different heads of health institutions, executives of the Yaounde Conference of Churches as well as leaders of the five associations under the Yaounde Field. 

The Executive President was accompanied during the visit by the Yaounde Field Pastor, Rev Jumbuin Enoch. 

Welcoming their August guest during a service April 13, at the Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church, the Field Chairman, Daniel Ngong Wango, appreciated Rev Nditemeh for reforms he is implementing at the helm of the church. 

Wango cited the several other achievements registered while Rev Dr. Nditemeh was leader of the Yaounde Field. 

Rev Nditemeh, who is the immediate former Yaounde Field Pastor, had announced during his home coming visit to Yaounde Field that his mandate will be centred on  truth, equity and development.

Says Executive President living up to expectation

In this light the Field Chairman said|: “We see you upholding this and we stand with you in the pursuit of this vision for the Cameroon Baptist Convention”.

He added that, “for any meaningful change to take place especially that which glorifies God and edifies the people, some hitherto no-go areas have to be navigated”.

While expressing their steadfastness with the Executive President, the Field Chairman thanked God for bringing Rev Nditemeh to the helm of the church and using him as a tool in His hands for the “needed change”.

Wango also assured the Executive President of the continuous prayers of Christians of the Yaounde Field for God to grant him more wisdom and the stability to stand firm on the truth and to up-hold his mantra. 

Acknowledges reforms within Yaounde Field

Acknowledging the reforms within the Yaounde Field, the Yaounde Field Chairman cited the creation of the Mbam Field carved out of Yaounde Field, the upgrading of Ekoumndoum Health Centre to a standard hospital and the creation of Makenene Health Centre.

He also mentioned the validation of the Bertoua and Ebolowa Associations and the appointment of interim Association Pastors. 

“Thank you again for the CBC Development Fund and more recently the Local Church Development funding which enabled us to pay off the Obili land and refunded promptly and recently the loan for the acquisition of Olembe land of 1150m2. Our church-Soa University BC has benefited from the Local church development fund also,” the field chairman added.

Thanking God for the successful holding of the CBC Extra-Ordinary General Session last June 2023 and the availability of the Revised CBC Constitution and By-Law, the Field Chairman expressed gratitude to Rev Nditemeh for permitting the Yaounde Field to host the 55th Session of the Council of Protestant Churches of Cameroon, CCPC’s Annual General Assembly.    

Strengthening of organisational unity of the church

In a bid to further strengthen the organisational unity of the church, Ngong Wango said the Rev Nditemeh-led CBC leadership recently organised a licensing ceremony for Baptist pastors and announced its devolution to the CBC seminaries and the 33 fields of the convention. 

Stating that the Yaounde Field executive is working on strategic church planting map for their area, he said the field leaders and the entire Baptist church of the field stand with the Executive President. 

He said they are trusting God to win, build, plant and grow more than 200 churches to fulfil the Great commission in the years ahead.

Perspectives

He informed the Executive President of their plan to organize the 10th anniversary of the Yaounde Field Development Fund this year. 

The Field Chairman said they plan to construct the CBC Business complex at Obili-Yaounde; to re-appropriate a land in Mouloundou in the East Region for ministry; to develop the Field land at Odzoum, as well as to reach out to foreign missions in Gabon in collaboration with Sakar BC Ambang Minko'o.

Speaking about the composition of Yaounde Field, Wango said it is made up of five association of churches, notably Yaounde South, Yaounde East, Bafia, Ebolowa and Bertoua associations.

The Yaounde Field comprises 52 full-fledged churches, 33 preaching stations and 27 preaching cells. 

As at November 2023, the CBC Yaounde Field had a total of 111 congregations with about 8,328 Christians. On the educational and health front, the CBC tallies 20 nursery and primary schools, four secondary schools, two general hospitals, two Health Centres and a resource centre.
