East Region: Minister commissions FEICOM-funded Angossas, Atok Council edifices.

The Minister Decentralisation and Local Development, Georges Elanga Obam, has commissioned the council buildings of Angossas and Atok, all municipalities in the East Region of the country.

The council edifices, constructed with funds from the Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance, FEICOM, were inaugurated during two separate ceremonies held in the Region this week.

While that of Atok in the Upper Nyong Division of the East Region was officially presented to the public Monday, the council building of Angossas in same Division was commissioned Tuesday April 16.

The two commissioning events were organised in the presence of elite of the East Region, including Public Service and Administrative Reform Minister, Joseph Le; the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works in charge of Roads, Armand Ndjodom and the Director General of FEICOM, Philippe Camille Akoa.

The two structures inaugurated at the start of the week, have been described by authorities as symbol of social progress, a consequence of the policy of decentralisation stated by President Paul Biya.

The Angossas council structure, it should be said, is a modern building constructed thanks to funding from the Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance, FEICOM.

The Atok council structure inaugurated Monday also benefited from funding from FEICOM. Its inauguration Monday, marked an official one week working visit of Minister Georges Elanga Obam to the East Region.

Besides the municipalities of Atok and Angossas, the minister will during his sojourn in the region, also visit the towns of Abong-mbang, Dimako and Mandjou for similar events.

While commissioning the Atok Council building Monday, Minister Elanga Obam, described the structure as a “beautiful jewel".

The member of government said the structure must be rightly considered as a gift from President Paul Biya to the people of Atok.

The minister then singled out FEICOM in praises for realising the magnificent structures. He said by ensuring the realisation of the structures, FEICOM has once more honoured its engagement in contributing to the decentralisation process.

The two council structures, financed by FEICOM, Minister Elanga Obam said, will contribute to improving the working conditions of the staff of the decentralised territorial collectivity.
