At 14th Ordinary Session: NW Regional Assembly discloses 2023 projects executed at 100%.

The North West Regional Assembly has disclosed that its projects for 2023 fiscal year were executed, both physically and financially, at 100 percent.

The disclosure was made by the President of the North West Regional Executive Council, Prof Fru Angwafo III.



He was speaking during the 14th Ordinary Session of the institution, which took place from Monday April 8 to Tuesday 9, in Bamenda.

Prof Fru Angwafo III, presenting an update of key projects and contracts executed by the Assembly in 2023, shed light on ongoing projects.

He disclosed that the Assembly awarded 40 internal tenders board contracts/jobbing orders in 2023. 

"As we speak, all annual projects for 2023 have been completed at a physical execution level of 100% and paid 100% financial execution rate. Only multi-year projects are ongoing. The project for the construction of an Emergency Centre in Bamenda is at 20.0%, while the construction of the Regional Assembly Guest House, is at 30% physical execution rates," Prof Angwafo III said.

While congratulating members of the Assembly and the population of the Region for supporting him, Prof Angwafo III added that the Assembly has recorded milestone achievements in 2023; in areas of infrastructure development, healthcare, education, economic development and culture.

Also present at the session was the representative of the State, Governor Adolphe Lele L'afrique, and other officials of the Region.

The session opened on Monday with a training on gender-based budgeting and accounts structures of decentralised collectivities and training on opportunities of e-education.

Adoption of 2023 accounts

Meanwhile, the main item on the agenda was the adoption of the 2023 administrative, management and stores accounts, which was highly appreciated by members of the Executive Council and guests.

The 2023 budget of the North West Regional Assembly stood at over 6 billion FCFA. It compromised of running expenses of over 2 billion FCFA and investment expenses of over 4 billion FCFA.

During the session, the administrative account was presented by the Secretary General of the Assembly, Peter Fiyoh Yerima. 

The management account was presented by the Treasurer, Kometa Solomon, and the Stores account was presented by Ngum Azaah.

All the accounts were adopted by a motion, which was moved by the Fon of Guzang, and generally accepted by members of the executive council.

 

Appreciation, promise to support

The 14th Ordinary Session of the North West Regional Assembly, equally brought together some members of the Upper and Lower Houses of Assembly from the Region.

They saluted Prof Fru Angwafo III and his team for continuous efforts to bringing back peace and development in the Region, through people-oriented projects.

Amongst them was Hon Njingum Musa, who said they are ready to help and support the North West Regional Executive Council at any moment.

Meanwhile, Senator Regina Mundi also corroborated Hon Njingum Musa, by saying they are satisfied with the balance sheet of the Regional Assembly.

Assembly receives certificate of excellence

During the session, the President of the North West Executive Council, was presented a certificate of excellenc,e from the Director General of Customs. The certificate was presented by Hon Njingum Musa.

The award is in recognition of his active participation during the 2024 International Custom's Day, which was launched in Bamenda. It is also in connection to a partnership with the Customs to create a dry port in Bamenda.

Upon receiving the award, Prof Fru Angwafo said the dry port will go operational in the months ahead, if everything goes as planned.

The 14th Ordinary Session of the North West Regional Assembly was also an opportunity for Governor, Adolphe Lele L'afrique, to remind the stakeholders of their duty to work for the return of peace and normalcy to the Region.
