To boost healthcare delivery: Health minister offers equipment to hospitals across Far North.

The Minister of Public Health, Dr Manaouda Malachie, has offered modern equipment to hospitals across the Far North Region to boost the quality of healthcare services offered to the population.

The medical and paramedical equipment were handed to the health facilities during a crowd pulling ceremony at the esplanade of the Mokolo Regional Hospital Annex in Mayo Tsanaga Division of the Far North Region. This was on Friday March 22.



The donation, according to the minister, is part of government’s plan to boost health care by equipping some 71 hospitals in the country with modern medical and paramedical equipment. 

This, he said, is in line with boosting the Universal Health Coverage scheme of the Head of State, President Paul Biya.

Dr Manoauda told attendees at the event that, President Biya is stopping at nothing to ensure citizens have access to quality healthcare at the lowest cost possible.

He equally reminded the beneficiaries of the need to make good use of the equipment. He also urged authorities of the beneficiary health facilities to properly 

“We have to evolve. Use the equipment in a responsible manner…Our discipline will ensure that things are well organised,” the minister said, before urging the population to trust the country’s public health system.

He particularly insisted on the need not to over tax patients and their families.

The equipment distributed included: lead tables, electromagnetic agitator glass cases, retro-alveolar radiology equipment, self-refractometers, thermostatic baths, dental chairs, incubators with phototherapy, scalars, dental chairs, slot lamps, micropipettes, binocular microscopes, spectrophotometers, heating tables for newborns, thermoflash, tonometer, dental turbines among others.

The equipment were handed over to eight health facilities, among them: the Mokolo Regional Annex Hospital, the Mokong District Hospital, the Mozogo District Hospital, the Hina District Hospital, the Roua District Hospital, the Mogode District Hospital, the Bougha District Hospital and the Mokolo II District Hospital.
