Company CEOs, representatives immortalise event

Seven Cameroonian corporate citizen companies have launched a coalition platform to further contribute to the wellbeing of communities in Cameroon.

The collaboration platform, dubbed One Goal Alliance, was launched March 18, 2024, in Douala.

The platform brings together corporate citizen companies including Chanas Assurances, Dangote Cement Cameroon, Huawei Cameroon, IHS Towers Cameroon, MTN Cameroon, MWDD Cameroon and UBA Cameroon.

The launch of One Goal Alliance took place in the presence of the Chief Executive Officers, CEOs of: MTN Cameroon, Mitwa Ng'ambi; MWDDB Cameroon, Harriet Muchu; UBA Cameroon, Anie Ekeme; Chanas Assurances, Léonce Augou; Dangote Cement Cameroon, Bertrand Mbouck; Huawei, Weiwen (Henry) and IHS Towers Cameroon, Olufemi.

Each of the aforementioned leaders signed the declaration at the launching, committing their respective organisations to a common approach to corporate social responsibility.

The seven companies have through the One Goal Alliance chosen to pool together some of their social responsibility initiatives to amplify their social impact and meet common objectives.

The programmes and initiatives to come under this new collaboration platform shall be aligned with the priorities of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, and recommendations of the 2020-2030 National Development Strategy, SND30, by Cameroon government.

Special emphasis, will through the One Goal Alliance, be laid on areas such as access to healthcare, potable water, digital and financial inclusion, capacity building for the youth, women and people living with disabilities as well as environmental protection and business ethics

Speaking on behalf of all the founding members of One Goal Alliance, the CEO of MTN Cameroon, Mitwa Ng'ambi, said the initiative is “in line with Cameroon's socio-economic context, characterised by major challenges and high community expectations, notably in the areas of education, health and access to potable water”.

She said the initiative “brings together companies that are socially committed to the well-being of communities, beyond their core business”.

“We have chosen to pool some of our respective resources and expertise to work together to make a bigger difference together," Mitwa Ng'ambi added.

Chanas Assurances, Dangote Cement Cameroon, Huawei Cameroon, IHS Towers Cameroon, MTN Cameroon, MWDD Cameroon and UBA Cameroon are the founding members of One Goal Alliance, but the platform remains open to other companies wishing to join the initiative.
