Bamenda: Suspected separatists attack leaves two people dead, several injured.

According to reports, the suspected separatist fighters had tried abortively to stop the truck, which was transporting drinks. 

They are then reported to have opened fire on the truck driver, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

The truck madding truck is then said to have crushed a civilian to death and destroyed property along the road, before crashing into a private vehicle. 

Blood stains were seen on the driver’s seat and the door of the truck, following bullet wounds he sustained.

Meanwhile, all four occupants of the private car hit by the truck reportedly survived though with minor injuries. The truck driver is reported to have later died upon arrival at the hospital. 

The perpetrators of the act are reported to have fled the scene before defense and security forces arrived the scene. 

It should be noted that since the outbreak of the Anglophone crisis in 2016, which later morphed into an armed conflict in 2017, separatist fighters had issued a ban on brewery products distributed by Les Boissons du Cameroun, throughout the North West and South West Regions.

For the last five years, some trucks transporting drinks and belonging to Boissons du Cameroun have been set ablaze, while others are being guarded to towns in the two restive Regions, by armed-to-the-teeth soldiers. 

Also, owners of drinking spots who continue to sell products from the said brewery company, have repeatedly been attacked and beaten by armed separatist fighters. Others have been kidnapped and only release after paying huge amounts as ransom.
