Yaounde Int’l Business School breaks new ground.

One of the major changes which speaks of the institution’s resolve to remain the best in the country was the installation of renowned scholar and Man of God, Rev Prof Anyambod Emmanuel Anya, as the institution's Vice Chancellor. New members were also admitted into the Board of the institution.

The President of YIBS Board of Trustees, Taku Godfred Acho, chaired deliberations. 

With the coming of Rev Prof Anyambod, YIBS, officials said, is working to boost its governance and the integrity of professionals raised at the institution.

Innovative expansion policy

Speaking at the end of the in camera session, the President of the Board of Trustees stated that the major resolution was the approval of the expansion policy of the school.

The members also approved the reorganisational structure and the governance system of YIBS. 

“We also admitted new members into the Board of Trustees. Initially, we had a 7-man board, which we have increased to 15 members,” Taku told The Guardian Post. 

Task ahead of new YIBS VC, collaborators

Rev Prof Anyambod was commissioned into office alongside other collaborators and directors at YIBS. His installation as VC comes months after he was appointed in October 2023.

He replaces another prominent university don, Prof Elisabeth Tamanjong, who previously served YIBS in that capacity. 

Following the installation, the Vice Chancellor and his team were tasked to improve the expansion policy of the school and to take YIBS to higher heights. 

According to the Board President, the Prof Anyambod-led team must tap from their wealth of prolong experience in the university milieu to impact learners and improve training. 

“We want him to provide excellence and quality in terms of training. He has to make sure that students have the right knowledge and the right practical competences,” Taku explained. 

He insisted that the new team must ensure that they train students who are innovative and competent to drive performance, both in the private and public sectors. 

He further elucidated that: “We don’t want people to be trained only on theories. We need professionals who will train and can do the job. They can create companies and employ others because we cannot solely rely on the government to get jobs”. 

New VC says ready for challenge 

Prof Anyambod, speaking to the press after his installation, declared his readiness to open a new page at YIPS.

He said they will work as a team to implement the kind of training that meets the aspirations and directives of the Ministry of High Education. 

“We have to work as a family in building a university that reflects the aspirations of the Ministry of High Education in transforming the university into what the Ministry of Higher Education requires as a company,” he declared.

He continued that: “This means that we have to train our students in a way that they are not only theoretical but made to be practical students who can get out there, create jobs for themselves, and for other people”. 

Prof Anyambod further committed to training Cameroonians to become very good citizens in the management and governance of issues of the nation. 

“This is so that they are not only going to be given book knowledge but are also given education that transforms their lives to become accountable people wherever they find themselves in the private and government services,” he uttered. 

As a team, Prof Ayambod said, “we will build cohesion and work together to make sure that this institution stands out as one of the best in Cameroon, Africa and why not the world?”.
