To boost Germano-Cameroon partnership: German Cooperation eyeing new fruitful investment areas at PROMOTE 2024.

The briefing was chaired among others by the State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Jochen Flasbarthes. Also present were other top officials including those of the German development agency in Cameroon, GIZ. 

The briefing which was also attended by other developmental partners, was punctuated by the screening of the German-Cameroonian Cooperation film portraying fruits of the collaboration between the two countries in the last over six decades.
Officials of German Cooperation used the outing to restate its renewed readiness to continue working with Cameroon, a nation where its activities have resulted to an immeasurable level of development. 

Speaking during the meeting, officials of the German Cooperation in Cameroon said the institution is fully dedicated to use PROMOTE 2024 as a fertile ground to help set up new investment platforms in all fields of its development-oriented engagements in Cameroon.

According to the structure, it will through activities at its Eurovillage stand at the PROMOTE 2024 fair, among others, raise awareness of German Development Cooperation’s commitment as a catalyst for the private sector and raise awareness on the priority projects in German-Cameroonian cooperation.

The body said it will also be notably helping visitors at its stand to appreciate the contribution of their cooperation to sustainable development in Cameroon and present them fruits of the various cooperation projects. 

These activities, the Cooperation detailed, will culminate in arousing interest from its targeted audiences for each of its project which will in return serve as a catalyst in notably facilitating exchanges between potential German investors and the cooperatives behind the projects in all of the Germany Cooperation’s priority areas.

“Over the years, the PROMOTE fair has emerged as a genuine networking platform for companies and the Cameroonian and international business world PROMOTE 2024 is more than ever an opportunity to showcase the German-Cameroonian partnership through the various projects that have been carried out together over the years,” Jochen Flasbarthes said. 

“This edition will be attended by private German companies keen to forge fruitful and mutually beneficial partnerships with their Cameroonian counterparts,” he added.

According to the top German official, the German companies that will be present at the ongoing event will be “keen to discover what is on offer from local companies in various sectors in order to strengthen the partnership between the Cameroonian and German private sectors on a long-term basis with a view to attracting foreign direct investment particularly from Germany.” 

The group also reassured small and medium-sized enterprises, SMEs and other small-scale enterprises of the dedication to establish new fruitful relationships. 

Germany multiplying efforts to strengthen ties with Cameroon 

The move by the German Development Cooperation to establish fresh investments with Cameroon is considered as a plausible step geared toward further improving what has for decades, been a fruitful partnership between the two countries since the start of collaboration between two nations in the 1960s. 

The German Cooperation in Cameroon works with government through the Cooperation Department of the German Embassy. The structure carries out the activities through three major agencies, the German development agency, GIZ, the German natural resources department, BGR and KW. 

Through the various agencies, the country provides substantial technical and financial support to Cameroon with the aim of helping the country achieve its sustainable development objectives for the 2020-2030 National Development Strategy, NDS30.

In the past six decades, the structure, has especially through the GIZ, made immense developmental contributions notably in the field of social protection and demographic policy, good governance decentralization and peace promotion and conflict resolution. 

The structure has also made massive strides in Cameroon in the fields of the sustainable management of natural resources, rural development and health with a bid to promote dialogue on sustainable development. 

“Bilateral development cooperation between Cameroon and Germany is based on a shared desire to work together for sustainable development for the benefit of the people of Cameroon in the priority area of good governance decentralisation peace and cohesion in the German-Cameroon cooperation,” the structure stated in a statement February 19.
