Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL, is currently staging a conspicuous presence at the ongoing International Exhibition for Enterprises, SMEs and Partnerships of Yaounde, PROMOTE.

The international exhibition fair was flagged off Monday in Yaounde. It was Trade Minister, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, who gave the official kick off.

This was in the presence of a college of government ministers, national and foreign guests amongst others.

Amongst the high-profile exhibitors at the fair, which ends this weekend, is Central Africa’s telecoms giant, CAMTEL.

The State corporation has been traditional exhibitor at the fair, which is in its 9th edition.

The imposing exhibition stand of the State-run telecoms jewel has been at the centre of attraction at the fair. It groups more than a thousand exhibitors from home and abroad.

CAMTEL's stand, which has been receiving hundreds of curious visitors daily, has been transformed into more or less a beehive with an ever ready and hospitable staff on hand to receive guests.

Staff of CAMTEL at the exhibition village set up for that purpose at the esplanade of the Yaounde Conference Centre, have been responding to questions from prying members of the public. CAMTEL gadgets are also on sale at the exhibition ground.

The Director of Communications at CAMTEL, Eric Benjamin Lamere, who spoke to newsmen at the start of the fair Monday, explained that his company is simply respecting tradition by participating at the trade exhibition.

Lamere disclosed to reporters that the presence of CAMTEL at the ongoing fair coincides with the 25th anniversary of the State-run corporation.

The former broadcast journalist said CAMTEL has come to PROMOTE to showcase its products and services.

“We are showcasing our strength in the sector. We have solutions to the mobile sector through our brand, Blue. We also have solutions to the fixed sector through our fibre optic,” he explained.

Taking the cue, Research Officer at the Communication Division of CAMTEL, Ajumane Akam Francis, who also spoke to newsmen, said CAMTEL is present at the fair for multiple reasons.

The former print and multimedia journalist, said as a leading telecoms company, CAMTEL’s presence at the fair, adds colour to the international event.

Ajumane explained that PROMOTE 2024 represents a big opportunity for CAMTEL to avail itself to the Cameroonian public, Africa and the rest of the world.

“Today, we are at PROMOTE with all our products and services. We are exhibiting the three components of CAMTEL, which are the transport unit, the business unit fixed and the business unit mobile,” Ajumane said.

“We have come here with our business unit mobile with our flagship product, Blue. Blue came into the market since 2021. We have the ambition to get the lion's share of the market. That is why we see PROMOTE as an opportunity to grow our market. We have come here to market Blue,” he added.

The Research Officer at the Communication Division continued that: “We also have the business unit fixed. We have come here today equally with the best option of fibre optic that you have in the market. We are exhibiting it to the public. We have the best fibre optic network. Trust us and you wouldn’t be disappointed”.

“We are also exhibiting the business unit transport. CAMTEL is not only a national company, we are planning to be the telecommunications hub in Sub Saharan Africa by 2035. That is why we are here presenting to the public our submarine cables that interconnect not only the country but the rest of the continent and the world,” Ajumane concluded.
