Clarence Azeh wins Best CRTV Regional Reporter Award.

This was during an award night organised by The Guardian Post, in the city of Ebolowa, in the South Region. Azeh was singled out by readers of the country’s leading print media organ.

He was recognised alongside other high-profile awardees for their outstanding performances and contributions to their different professions and society at large.

The award jury said Azeh was singled out for his extensive, in-depth and impactful reporting of issues affecting local communities in the South Region. 

Several other awardees were also decorated at the prestigious annual ceremony. This year's award presentation ceremony was staged at the auspicious Bengo Hotel. 

Some of the awardees included renowned anti-corruption campaign and international lawyer of repute, Barrister Akere Muna and Cameroon’s foremost scientist, Prof Emeretus Rose Leke. 

Several State officials, including ministers and General Managers of State corporations also bagged home prizes during the award night chaired by the former Secretary General at the Ministry of Public Contracts, Chief Fitzgerald Nasako.

Accepting his award during the Ebolowa event, Clarence Azeh said he was humbled by the distinction. Azeh said he is challenged by the award to produce more quality works. 

“I feel honoured. The qualities of The Guardian Post are such that anyone who wins an award from the media organ should feel honoured. I don’t think any bravery in journalistic term can be bigger than this,” he enthused.

Azeh said he would be spurred by the award to be more committed to his career and to remain more vocal and objective in his reporting, no matter whose ox is gored.

“After seven years in the South Region reporting for the State broadcaster, I think this is really a big win for me. I am grateful to The Guardian Post Media Group for recognising the work that we are doing here in the South Region. We are going to keep serving the nation by reporting objectively,” Azeh pledged.

While thanking the organisers for the honour, the reporter said he was dedicating the award to all members of the CRTV family.

“I am dedicating this award to the entire CRTV family and most especially the Director General of CRTV, Mr Charles Ndongo,” he said. 

Aged 34, Azeh Clarence Tamutan, it should be said, is a video journalist working with CRTV South in Ebolowa.

He is holder of Bsc in Journalism and Mass Communication from the Advanced School of Mass Communication, ASMAC, of the University of Yaounde II.

The graduate of the 43rd batch of ASMAC got recruited into CRTV in 2016, following a recruitment examination. 

Prior to this, Azeh carried out a professional internship at CRTV West Region in Bafoussam, triggered by a burning passion for broadcast journalism.

Clarence Azeh was part of 30 journalists recruited by the State broadcaster to launch its all-news channel, CRTV News, in 2016. 

He underwent a training on multimedia journalism at CRTV's institute of audiovisual heritage at Ekounou, Yaounde, before his transfer to the South regional chief-town, Ebolowa, in 2017.

The native of Nkwen, in the North West Region, writes stories in different domains of life; including health, agriculture, politics, culture and sports. He aspires to specialise in science reporting.

Clarence Azeh, before winning the 2023 The Guardian Post Achievement Award as CRTV's Best Regional Reporter of the Year 2023, had severally been voted best CRTV staff of South regional radio station.
