Renowned horse racing betting company, Pari Mutuel Urbain Camerounais, PMUC, has in the spirit of transforming lives, created another multimillionaire in the city of Douala in the Littoral Region.

The recent winner of the company’s betting offer was unveiled Thursday February 15. This was during a ceremony staged at the company's headquarters in Akwa, Douala.

During the highly emotional event, a symbolic cheque of more than 106 million FCFA was handed to the sales agent whose kiosk had the winning combination.

The lucky winner, officials said, staked with the Quinté at the PMUC Douala agency, behind the Laquintini Hospital. This was on Thursday February 5, 2024.

The official finish was composed of: 5-1-10-7-13 and 5-1-10-13-7, therefore dead-heat in fourth position, which allowed him to have two orders, disorders and bonuses.

The current winner, it was said, has kick-started the tradition of big wins for the year at PMUC, after the 159 million FCFA won in Maroua on December 31.

The Director General of the PMUC, Paul Louis Tasso, in his speech noted that, the short interval within which the lives of two Cameroonians have been transformed just from betting with 500 FCFA, is a testimony of the credibility and transparency of the company.

Tasso used the opportunity to thanked all his commercial collaborators, sales attendants for their unwavering service to the company's ideals.

He was optimistic that Douala had just launched the year with more opportunities for stakers.

Though many Cameroonians are doubtful of the chances to win big in a very competitive PMUC race like the one of February 5, it would appear the winner's intuition knew staking on that day would turn things around for him.

The agent with whom he composed the winning combination, Ndobo Berthe, said she was happy with the outcome but wasn’t expecting such.

Her misfortune the previous night, turned to joy when the news of the win was announced.

"On the eve of that day, I had an accident and I didn't know if I could come to work. I was pushed by my inner mind to come to work regardless of the pains. So, I listened to my inner mind and the staker called me at around 9:30am that I should do the betting for him which I did. At about 3:00pm, the commercial agent of the company came and informed me that we have won 106 million FCFA. I even doubted who the staker was but when I checked, I could recall it was the one who called me in the morning, so I'm very happy," Ndobo recounted.

For more than three decades of operations in Cameroon, PMUC, has undisputedly marked itself as precursor of horse racing betting in the country.

Also distinguished by Sports Paris and the Loto, they have distributed more than 400 million FCFA in 30 years. The winner was described by the marketing head, Emmanuel Nwe Nwe as a testimonial to the 30 years of success of PMUC.
