At audience in Yaounde: Minister hails tech genius, Nzometiah, for contributing to digital transformation.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister, Minette Libom Li Likeng, has praised young Cameroonian tech genius, Nervis Nzometiah, for his immense contribution towards Cameroon’s digital transformation drive through his numerous technological innovations.



Minister Libom Li Likeng was speaking in Yaounde on Friday February 9 during an audience she granted the winner of the Head of State’s Prize for Best ICT 2020 Project in Cameroon. 

Nzometiah was received in the capacity of Goodwill Ambassador for the promotion of a culture of cybersecurity and the responsible use of social media in Cameroon. The audience was within the framework of the ministry’s four-day commemorative activities for the 2024 Youth Day. 

Nzometiah who is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Nervtek Company, made a presentation on the grounds he has covered over the years in promoting digital transformation especially among the youth.

The tech guru who came to the limelight thanks to his project on E-Waste 3D Printer, wowed the audience with presentations on how his activities of training and carrying out youth sensitisation on digital transformation has touched thousands.

After his presentation which also focused on future projections, some seven young people trained by Nervteck, also took turns to present some devices they have produced thanks to skills acquired under Nzometiah.

The beneficiaries of the training also presented projects including The Power of Generative AI which focuses on the use of Artificial Intelligence, AI, in generating images and websites for businesses.

Plant Welfare Monitoring System for crops monitoring and the Weather Station an accurate weather monitoring device were also presented to the minister.

At the end of the presentations, Minister Libom Li Likeng handed out certificates of recognition to the young techies, Nzometiah and his collaborators. She also handed out working tools to the group to facilitate their works.

Youth enjoined to join digital transformation train 

Minister Libom Li Likeng said Nervis Nzometiah’s works are worth emulating, reason why she urged young people in the country to join the digital transformation train.

To her, they should push to become major actors in Cameroon’s highly cherished plan to transform the digital sector as a decisive development tool. 

“I am so proud of these young youths after following their presentations especially knowing that their mentor is a fruit of an initiative engaged during the 2020 edition of the Innovation Week at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications where he won the Head of State’s Special Prize for the best ICT Innovative Project for the year,” the minister said.

She went on to add that: “We all clearly see that this young guy has engaged in sharing his skills, the realities of the new technology by training and educating other youth. I feel very happy when I see the demonstrations that these children were able to show us”.

The minister described her meeting with Nzometiah and his group as a move that will push more Cameroonian youths to coming on board the state’s digital transformation and development bid.

Nzometiah salutes gov’t support 

Speaking to reporters after the audience, Nzometiah expressed immense gratitude to government for the attention and support it offers to Nervteck.

“What we have here is a testament to the fact that we can start creating our own solutions right here in Cameroon. These very young ones were given access to opportunities and the right tools. That is why we can see them creating things. It doesn’t matter if they are still very young, if they are given the chance, they can create and go even beyond,” Nzometiah said.
