Agriculture Value Chain Development Project: Visiting Islamic Dev’t Bank team salutes achievements, mulls extension.

Javed Khan led the IsDB team that was in the South West Region recently. The officials saluted the AIVDP team for implementing the project according to prescribed guidelines. 

The team, during the visit, also pondered on the possibility of getting the project extended.

According to the delegation head: “It is our policy that every year we review the policies and procedures of our project. We have discussed this with the team in charge of the project and we have realised that the project is being implemented as we agreed”.

Khan expressed delight that, what they agreed upon five years ago in relation to the project is being respected. 

However, with much yet to be completed and time running out, the team expressed their desire to give the project team an extension to finalise everything.

“…we have realised that there are some activities which might not be completed on time and we may need an extension of around six months. This is possible and they will send us a request, but as a whole, we see no issues with the project,” Khan said. 

Khan told reporters that the project was financed by the Life and Livelihood Fund of the IsBD. 

He explained that it is a specialized fund which is part of the Bank’s mission to assist member countries with concessional financing.

The South West Region was the first region to benefit from such financing in the country. Khan said the achievements speak for themselves. 

“…we did not find any problems or issues in the project implementation activities. We are very satisfied with what the team has delivered and what they project to deliver in the next few months,” Khan stated.

Mohammadou Awal, IsDB Field Representative for Cameroon who was also part of the team said much has been done since the project was launched.

He encouraged all stakeholders to put hands on deck to ensure that the all earmarked projects are achieved. 

The project, he added, is crucial and aligns with the vision of IsDB and that of the government of Cameroon.

The population of the South West Region, he said, is happy with t what is being done in their community through the AIVDP project. 

The AIVDP project was launched on 8th April 2019. The physical realisation of the project according to the Coordinator Br Besong Ntui Orgork stands at 55%.
