To foster economic dev’t: NW Regional Assembly, research consultancy network seal deal.

The North West Regional Assembly and the Cameroon Interdisciplinary Research Consultancy Network, CIRECON, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, aimed at rebuilding and rebranding the North West Region.



 

The MoU was signed January 30, at the Auditorium of the North West Regional Assembly. 

The signing ceremony was witnessed by a host of senior staff from the University of Bamenda, UBa and members of the Regional Assembly.

The President of the North West Regional Assembly, Prof Fru Angwafo III, penned the deal on behalf of his institution, while the Founder of CIRECON, Prof Theresia Nkuo-Akenji, who also doubles as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Bamenda, signed for the organisation.

It was disclosed that the MoU is intended to foster regional and national development, through science-driven, gender inclusive and human-based approaches to development that ensure an all-encompassing approach to training and sustaining the youth.

The MoU shall specifically focus on collaboration in areas of mutual interests to advance gender equality, youth opportunities, better treatment of minorities, sustainable development, fighting disease, poverty, conflicts and discrimination.

It is also expected to strengthen efforts for joint advocacy and support for both parties’ programmes in sustainable development and for improved technical cooperation. 

The collaboration between the two institutions is also expected to help youth explore their talents in various fields, provide grounds for training and entrepreneurship for youths.

Through the MoU, the North West Regional Assembly and CIRECON will also identify potential vulnerable persons and out-of-school-youths to benefit from specific support by undertaking skills-based-training.
