SW Governor cautions new Fako SDO against money-grabbing.

Viang Mekala greeting collaborators

The Governor of the South West Region, Bernard Okalia Bilia, has cautioned the new Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Fako, Viang Mekala, to abstain from the quest for money.

He was speaking in Limbe, Thursday January 25, during the installation of the new Fako SDO. Viang Mekala was recently appointed by a presidential decree to replace Mr Chaibou, appointed as SDO of Nyong and Kelle Division in the Centre Region.
"You will always enjoy from me…all the support and necessary protection. But if on the contrary, you choose a different path, especially that of the quest for money and partisan groups, in the fight for leadership positions among the elite or activists in complicity with certain persons, then you will find yourself surely responsible for your actions," Okalia warned.
He noted that the outgoing SDO, Mr Chaibou, will be remembered for his efforts to ensure respect for the laws and regulations in force, as well as the fight against criminality and attempts to perpetrate all forms of lawlessness.
He went ahead to instruct Viang Mekala to, "pay constant attention against any possible infiltration of arms and ammunition by criminal gangs or secessionist armed groups, some of which are either based here or in neighbouring Nigeria, from where they continue elaborating, sponsoring and executing plans to destabilise social peace and jeopardising the development of the Division...".
Earlier in his welcome speech, the Limbe City Mayor, Paul Efome urged the incoming SDO to maintain unwavering objectivity in the discharge of his duties.

"The people of Fako Division see you as that Special One whom the Head of State has sent to come and set records straight, execute to the letter directives as prescribed by the hierarchy of the State concerning certain hot files…we expect you to administer with wisdom when dealing with certain realities of this Division," Paul Efome said, adding that “we have confidence and trust on your very rich senior administrative competences to clear-off all pending files".
Paul Efome equally cautioned the incoming SDO to "guard against being taken hostage by any individuals or group of individuals to influence the course of things here, according to their whims and caprices."
Speaking to the press, the newly installed SDO expressed profound gratitude to the President of the Republic for appointing him to the position of the SDO of Fako. He acknowledged being conscious of the challenges that await him as Fako SDO.
