Popular Yaounde-based Woman of God, Rev Nchanji Therese, dropped dead in the wee hours of Sunday January 28, living thousands of Christians in shock.

The late Rev Nchanji was General Overseer of the Holy Ghost Zone, HGZ, Ministries; in the Damas neighbourhood in Yaounde.
Details are conflicting, but according to several reports, Rev Nchanji had complained of light headache in the evening of last Saturday, breaking Sunday. She is said to have driven herself to a nearby clinic, where reports say she normally consults.
Other accounts have it that she kept conversing with the husband, while on her way for medical attention.
At the time, the husband was home watching the Cameroon-Nigeria AFCON encounter, in the company of their children and other family members.

Several Christians stormed the late Rev Nchanji’s residence

We gathered that she opted to go seek medical attention unaided, since there was nothing serious to worry about.
On reaching the hospital, the Woman of God, sources say, was put on drips to calm down her situation.
However, by 2:00 a.m. Sunday, her situation worsened. She is said to have breath her last, just a few minutes after the husband rushed in, following calls from the medics who were attending to her.
According to a close family relative, the body of the deceased was taken to a mortuary, shortly after she breath her last.
All attempts by The Guardian Post to speak to some family members on the issue were futile. The church is also yet to release an official statement on their pastor’s death.

Inconsolable Christians sitting outside residence

Rev Nchanji headed the Holy Ghost Zone Ministries, which is situated at the Damas neighbourhood in Yaounde. She was known for her healing, deliverance, moving and life-changing sermons.
The Woman of God is said to have been in church last Thursday for a midweek service and showed no sign of ill health. Christians have testified that she not only delivered, healed many but gave a moving sermon last Sunday, January 21, 2024.
Church service at the Holy Ghost Zone Ministry, reports hold, did not hold yesterday. Instead, a worship service was organised at the residence of the deceased.
During the service, the Christians prayed for the eternal rest of their pastor, whom they said, God used to accomplish His mission.
They also prayed for their church, Holy Ghost Zone Ministries, that “no power of the enemy shall set in”.
One of the elders of the church told grieving worshipers that: “We might be asking questions. But the Lord Jesus in Mathew verse 6-41, said that we should watch and pray. That is what is very important. Ask yourselves if our pastor was here now, what will she want us to do? She lived for Jesus…”.
He went further to say that: “Lord, our mother is in the Lord. Let us lift our voices and give glory to the Lord. Let us thank Him. He is the beginning and the end. He alone knows our tomorrow. He alone is the master of our destiny. He has been the master of the destiny of Ma Nchanji. Let us appreciate Him. He alone holds our life in his hands. Let us worship him”.

Christians pay tribute to late Pastor
News about the death of Rev Nchanji spread across the nation’s capital like wildfire. Shortly after the information went viral, several Christians stormed her Simbock residence. Some of them were inconsolable.
Reacting to the death, one of the Christians who pleaded for anonymity, said that the “untimely departure” of their Pastor, is a great loss to the church and the entire Christian community. “She had an impact in our lives. She was caring and loving”.
Another Christian, who has been worshiping at Holy Ghost Zone since 2017, said the late pastor was a role model who changed her life “in all aspects”.
She lives behind her husband, several children and thousands of Christians to celebrate her call to eternity.
