To foster quality control in teaching & learning: UBa signs MoU with 19 private higher institutions.

UBa officials & representatives of various private institutions immortalise ceremony

The University of Bamenda, Uba, will henceforth accompany some 19 private higher institutions in fostering quality control in teaching and learning process. 

This follows signing of Memoranda of Understanding, MoUs, and Extension of Special Agreements, between UBa and these institutions. The MoUs were signed Thursday January 25 at the University campus in Bambili, Tubah Subdivision in Mezam Division.



According to the representative of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Bamenda, Prof Suh Cheo Emmanuel, the MoUs are necessitated by the need to accompany private higher education institutions on a journey aimed at training the work force for tomorrow. 

“By signing this agreement, we establish a mechanism of quality control between us and each of this Institutions. We will work hand in glove to ensure that we don’t willingly or knowingly cut any corners,” Prof Suh Cheo said.

He continued: “We ensure that we abide by the procedures laid down by regulation so that we are comforted that at any point in time in this partnership agreement, our students can go and use the facilities in this private institutions just like they can also benefit from whatever the University of Bamenda has to offer”.

He further explained that the major role to be played by the University of Bamenda in the agreement is to ensure that UBa has the man power to follow-up the schools and ensure that programs they offer are implemented accordingly.

In order to ensure that the institutions implement the policies contained in the agreement, Prof Suh Cheo, said: “The documents we have just signed are legal documents. Equally, a team has been put in place to follow up the teaching, examinations and the cortication process of this institutions to ensure that those who are going to graduate from those establishments incidentally have degrees from the University of Bamenda”. 

Speaking to reporters after signing the MoU, Enni Charlotte Tanwani, who represented the Global Higher Institute in Douala, said the agreement is very important to their institution because it will give them greater visibility and recognition.

“We are so happy to sign this MoU because it will help us to train students who will be recognised in the society,” she said.

On his part, Ndongndeh Godlove from the Higher Institute of Professional Education and Practice in Bafoussam detailed that the signing of the MoU is very important to his institution.

He MoU henceforth gives them the credibility to offer all programs, including the National Higher Diploma, Bachelors, Masters. 

He equally reiterated that “it is going to be an opportunity for more students to come to our institution”.

On his part, Tabe Eyong, the promoter of Redemption Higher Institute of Biomedical and Management Sciences, RHIBMS, Molyko-Buea, averred that the MoU is important because it enables the institution to open up more programs. 

“Our signing under Biomedical Science, at the level of Bachelors and Masters, gives us the more opportunities to admit national and international students into all our programs,” Tabe Eyong told reporters.

The signing ceremony was attended by heads and or representatives of all the private institutions, the representative of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Bamenda, Registrars, Deans, Rectors and Support Staffs of the University of Bamenda.
