Members of the North West Regional Assembly have deliberated on projects that the institution has been implementing and others in the pipeline.

This was during its 13th session, dedicated to deliberation and adoption of the institution’s budget for 2024, which opened Monday December 11, 2023. It ended Wednesday December 13.
The session was chaired by the President of the Regional Executive Council, Professor Fru Angwafo, with supervision from Governor Adolphe Lele L'afrique, personal representative of the State.
The session held under the theme: "The Ordinary Session for the 2024 Budget".
Also present are some Members of Parliament, Regional Delegates, Mayors, members of the executive council and others.
Discussions during the opening focused on updates on peace building initiatives in the Region, presentation on the customs clearance warehouse, presentation on environmental impact opportunities/climate change and others.
According to the President of the Regional Assembly, the Peace and Development Initiative, PDI project, which is ongoing in all seven Divisions of the Region, is yielding fruits and a lot of positive reactions from the communities.
Professor Fru Angwafo also revealed that the custom clearance warehouse project is set to commence in 2024. The warehouse, he said, will help raise revenue through customs clearance on all goods that are entering the North West Region.
He also added that it will also be an avenue for economic growth and job opportunities for the youth.
"For the last two sessions, we worked with the community and civil society organisations to gather projects with assistance from state engineers. We now have to streamline them, so that they enter within the investment budget,” he explained.
Prof Fru Angwafo added that: “What we need to do now is to go to every Division and Subdivision, look at the projects that are onboard and see how to distribute them come 2024".

Prof Fru Angwafo said the Peace and Development Initiative committee is a community driven project. He also said more projects will be focusing on secondary education, health, environment and road construction.
On the environmental impact opportunities, the Coordinator of Safe Your Future Association, Tantoh Nforba, said it is time to partner with the Regional Assembly to empower those who have been affected by the crisis in the Region.
"One of our goals is to network with the government. I think the time has come when we need to sit on the table and harness all the different opportunities and resources to come out with a common initiative program where the population can have access to water. If they can come in to add to what we have, it will be great because it solve social problems," Tantoh said.
According to Tantoh, he is creating the New Village Environmental Movement, which falls in line with one of the projects of the Regional Assembly.
The environmental movement, he said, will reduce rural exodus and also empower the youth materially and financially.
For his part, the Governor of the North West Region, Adolphe Lele L'afrique, saluted the efforts of the Regional Assembly in the implementation of its projects.
He also called on security officers to reinforce security measures in the Region. Various committees also held meetings Tuesday as the Regional Assembly prepared to review and adopt the 2024 budget Wednesday.
