NW Regional Assembly's Peace & Dev’t Initiative takeoffs in Santa.

The project was recently launched in Santa Subdivision, Mezam Division in the North West Region.

The launching was headed by the President of the PDI project in Santa, Ngufor Emmanuel Che, who called on youth who are still caring arms in the bushes to drop them and join the development drive of their community.

The event also brought together authorities such as the Divisional Officer, DO, of Santa Subdivision, Jules Roger Nkolo; Hon Acham Becky, Technical Adviser for the project, Waindim Sylvia; representative of the North West Regional Assembly's Commissioner for Economic Development and others.

The occasion, which took place at the Santa council hall, also witnessed the distribution of work tools to the committee members. These tools will be used for the cleaning of locations in the community like markets, hospital, DO's office, streets and many others.

While saluting the efforts of the youth in championing peace initiatives, the DO urged them to embrace the project.

"You are the ambassadors of peace. I wish that you are at the forefront of bringing back peace in the region and most especially Santa Subdivision," he said.

On her part, Hon Acham Becky called on the population to take advantage of the bottom-up approach and develop their communities.

She added that peace is essential in every aspect of life and now is the time to break violence by preaching and promoting peace in Santa.

Taking the cue, Waindim Sylvia re-echoed the message of peace and sustainable development, which is the theme of the project to the population.

"We all share the responsibility to strengthen our local community through development. This can only happen when we promote peace. I therefore continue to call on the youth to stay away from violence," Waindim said.

The Peace and Development Initiative is a project of the North West Regional Assembly, which was first launched in all seven Divisions of the Region. The project is now at a different phase at the Sub Divisional levels across the Region.
