CNPS DG seduces MPs with institution’s innovative services.

The workshop was chaired by REPAS President, Hon Djeumeni Benilde. During the workshop, the CNPS Director General made a holistic presentation on the missions, strategic plans and innovations the institution placed under his command has introduced to better serve the public.

At the end of his presentation, CNPS boss responded to series of questions from the MPs.

Speaking to the press at the end of the workshop with MPs, CNPS boss, Mekulu Mvondo, said since taking over the helm of the institution, his administration has not ceased to multiply innovations to improve the services it offers.    

Citing some positive changes at CNPS, Mekulu Mvondo said the cumbersome process of enrolling subscribers in the past, has been made easy.

“We have multiple innovations that have won international recognitions,” he stated, adding that: “In the past, one was required to assemble 12 documents, but today we have reduced that to just three and these are documents that can be constituted in one day without having to run helter-skelter”. 

Citing yet another innovation introduced, the CNPS boss explained that through the digitalisation of its services, documents are treated within a short period of time. 

“In the past, when a subscriber submitted their demand for pension payment, they needed to wait for an average 166 days for treatment of files, but now within an hour that can be done and your pension or family allowance payment made,” the DG averred.

Meanwhile, the security of subscribers’ information has been amongst priority issues at CNPS. To step up the security of information, two data centres in Yaounde and Douala have been established.

“Information about our subscribers are totally secured,” he affirmed. 

“We have two data centres in Douala and Yaounde, which are permitting us to receive progressively data about our social subscribers so that we can treat requests rapidly when the need comes,” Mekulu Mvondo assured.

Speaking to the press, the President of REPAS network saluted the management of CNPS under the stewardship of Mekulu Mvondo. According to him, the exchange between the network and the CNPS management has been fruitful.

He further attested that the innovations introduced by the Mvondo-led administration have greatly improved the services CNPS offers and has an immense potential for the country. 

“We leave this session very satisfied with their digital payment system via Orange Money and client-oriented services. We have seen their glowing report and they have important reservoirs for the country and have taken actions even at the international scene,” Hon Djeumeni said.

Quizzed on the purpose of the meeting between both entities, the lawmaker explained that: “We wanted them to explain to us the innovations they have put in place and we quizzed them on a number of their activities and at the end of this session, we can boldly say that this entity has a great potential for our country”.

According to the MP, the exchange platform has not only given them the opportunity to control government’s action, but to also give their inputs to better its functioning 

“We are working in synergy to detect legal loopholes and CNPS also showed us some legal gaps that we have to push to adjust, because that existing ordinance no longer honours Cameroonians. We have to move on with a true and updated law,” he specified.

Urges Cameroonians to register on CNPS list

Hon Djeumeni used the opportunity to call on compatriots to get themselves registered on the CNPS register in order to benefit from the social protection it offers. 

“We are calling on all Cameroonians to enlist themselves on the CNPS registers,” the MP said.  

As MPs, he assured that they are ready to champion a campaign for descentralised territorial collectivities like mayors and regional councillors to be obliged to be registered at CNPS.

“We are now going to advocate for a decentralised system so that all the decentralised territorial collectivities should be registered at CNPS. For example, mayors have to be registered at the CNPS and failure of which an action may be taken against them,” he declared.
