Anglophone crisis: SDF condemns Egbekaw killings, urges gov’t to prioritise dialogue.

Hon Fusi Naamukong made the condemnation in a press statement issued on Saturday November 11. 

In the statement, he also restated the need for government to prioritise dialogue in the presence of a third party to solve the Anglophone crisis that long morphed into an armed conflict.

The former Member of Parliament, MP, who also doubles as SDF Shadow Cabinet Minister of Defense and Security, said there is need for a third party to organise neutral talks to end the bloodletting and address the root causes of the Anglophone crisis.

According to Hon Fusi Naamukong, no right thinking person will be silent in the face of the barbarism unleashed on civilians in Egbekaw. 

He described the authors of the act, who are yet to be identified, as “blood thirsty demagogues”.

He called on security forces and separatist fighters in particular to stop what he said is carnage on civilians. Hon Fusi Naamukong also said it is time for the parties in the conflict to work towards a ceasefire.

He also proposed the holding of an All Anglophone Conference to outline the grievances of the people of the North West and South West Regions. 

After such is done, he said, there should be a sincere dialogue grouping Anglophones alongside separatists in the Diaspora under the watch of a third party. 

Such a meeting, he said, should take place in a neutral place. The SDF baron also reiterated the need to free all those detained in connection to the Anglophone crisis.

Urgent need to revisit history

Hon Fusi Naamukong, in the same statement called on the powers that be to revisit history and address the root causes of the Anglophone crisis. Such a review, he said, must be done as a matter of urgency to avoid of a repeat of incidents such as the massacre in Egbekaw village in the crisis-hit Regions.
