CPDM cripples opposition in Ndian.

This follows the cross-carpeting of the former mayor of Toko Council, under the Social Democratic Front, SDF, Nganda Valentine Beyoko, alongside over 200 supporters of his party, to CPDM.

Nganda Valentine and his comrades dumped the SDF and decamped to the CPDM on Monday November 6. This was in Mundemba, during celebrations marking the 41^st anniversary of the Head of State, President Paul Biya, at the helm of the State. The celebration was organised by the CPDM Ndian I Section. 

The converts from Toko Subdivision, led by Nganda Valentine Beyoko, said their decamping to the CPDM party was as an anniversary gift to the National President of the CPDM party, Paul Biya, who is also the President of the Republic.

The newly elected SDF National Chairman, Hon Osih Joshua, it should be recalled, hails from Toko Subdivision.

Speaking after declaring his taking off of the SDF cloak and donning the CPDM garment, Nganda Valentine started by decrying claims that his and the former SDF followers, who joined him to decamp to CPDM, didn’t love Ndian Division.

“People said we did not like Ndian Division. But we want to prove these skeptics wrong. I don’t think there is anybody in Ndian who loves Ndian more than I do,” he said. 

“…I will do everything to make sure that Ndian moves forward. We have to join the CPDM because for a while now, we have been made to understand that it good to be in the house to construct than to be outside. So, if we are here, we have come to join to construct and develop Ndian and Cameroon. We will give you all our necessary support to make sure that CPDM always has 100% in all elections,” Nganda added. 

Meanwhile, the Section President of CPDM Ndian I Section, said the opposition is now dead and buried in Ndian Division. He used the occasion to thank the Head of State, President Paul Biya, for always thinking of Ndian in terms of development projects. He cited the recent contract for the tarring of the Kumba-Ekondo-Titi road. The Section President also hailed President Biya for appointing sons and daughters of Ndian into posts of responsibility within the State apparatus. 

He also declared Ndian I CPDM section adherents’ unflinching support for President Paul Biya. 

The CPDM supporters in Ndian I Section said President Biya is their candidate for 2025 presidential election. 

Big blow on SDF

Meanwhile, the decamping of Nganda Valentine and his comrades to the CPDM has been seen as a big blow to the SDF party, especially for its newly elected National Chairman, Osih Joshua Nambangi, a traditional ruler of Madie Ngolo village, Toko Subdivision of Ndian Division.

Some political analysts say the move is an indication that the CPDM party is waxing on strong not only in Toko Subdivision, but in the entire Ndian Division.

It should be recalled that Toko Subdivision had been the stronghold of the SDF party in Ndian Division. While SDF’s political fortunes had been dwindling in Ndian in general and Toko Subdivision in particular, analysts say the recent decamping of Nganda and his cronies is the last straw that has, or will, break the SDF’s back in the area. 

Political watchers say Toko was the only area in Ndian Division with a large SDF following.

Analysts are of the opinion that Nganda and Co.’s decision to decamp to the CPDM must have been influenced by the development strides in Ndian Division by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, who is a frontline CPDM party adherent and son of the Division.

With upcoming elections in the country, analysts have noted that opposition parties will have no place in Ndian Division. 

The celebration was spiced by cultural animation, general feasting and merry-making.
