At celebration of Biya’s 41 years in power: Minister Fuh Calistus offers multi-million poverty alleviation scheme to Misaje, Ako.

This came in the form of a new poverty alleviation scheme that was launched same day. The scheme, offered by Minister Fuh Calistus Gentry, is dubbed: “Poverty Alleviation Program”, was launched by the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, for Donga Mantung, Dr Nkwenti Simon Dooh.

It was total mobilisation at the Misaje Grandstand as hundreds of supporters of the CPDM came out to celebrate Biya’s ascension to power. The great mobilisation was the handiwork of an elite of the area, Minister Prof Fuh Calistus.

According to the SDO, who launched the project, the scheme, which is in its pilot phase, will be extended to all localities of Donga Mantung Division.

CIGs from 30 villages first beneficiaries 

Some 34 Common Initiative Groups, CIGs, drawn from over 30 villages that make up the Ako and Misaje Subdivisions, were first beneficiaries of the scheme. Each of the groups received 100,000 FCFA. 

In total, 1.8 million FCFA was allocated to Ako communities while villages in Misaje received 1.6 million FCFA.

Meanwhile, the Dumbu and Ako Achaba groups received two brand new motorcycles valued at 1.3 million FCFA.

Minister Fuh Calistus situates scheme

Biya’s foot solider in Misaje, Ako and beyond, Minister Prof Fuh Calistus, who is the Interim boss of the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, in a message delivered at the crowd pulling event, said it is time to appropriate all development projects.

Prof Fuh Calistus said the development schemes to empower local communities are meant to ensure the people make use of government’s investments in the domains of health, infrastructure, electricity, education, roads, potable water and sports to live better lives.

The minister in his message said: "...we have decided to develop a poverty alleviation programme and an emergency response to unforeseen plights of our people....".

He was clear that the program comes to address issues which the population of the two Subdivisions had raised. 

Prof Fuh Calistus recalled that a representative of Akweto village, had drawn his attention to “emergency social constraints in Bansobi, a quarter in Akweto village”.

Needs that were identified he said included damaged pipes and the need for culverts in Bansobi and Kitanghazo. 

Minister Prof Fuh Calistus made available one million FCFA to repair the damaged pipes and ensure the construction of the culverts in Bansobi. 

Representatives received the money alongside others during the celebration of Biya’s anniversary in power.

Local Development Committee in place

In the meantime, an offshoot of the grandiose celebration was the institution of a Local Development Committee to follow up on development projects not on the council development plan.

The committee which is a formation of Minister Prof Fuh Calistus, is mean to cover up gaps in lobbying for development projects.

The members of the committee for Misaje are; Mboh Peter, Kiyang Simon, Jibo Marcel, Yuwa Felix, Saidou Enoa, Ndongo Raphael, Nkenda Simon, Awalu Iyah and Evelyn Kinyu Sama.

In addition to the lobbying, the team is expected to assist 16 CIGs in Misaje which benefited from the Poverty Alleviation Program in making good use of the funds at their disposal.

Unconditional support for Biya

Prior to the celebrations of November 6, there was a Joint Section Conference of Donga Mantung IV Section, Misaje. 

The Joint Section Conference which took place on November 5 culminated in the declaration of unconditional support to President Paul Biya.

The conference took place under the theme: “Donga Mantung IV Section-Misaje, bountifully reaping the fruits of her unconditional support, loyalty and commitments to the CPDM party and the New Deal government: Time for expression of gratitude and valorization of these fruits for the empowerment, alleviation of poverty and the emancipation of the Misaje people".

‘Misaje CPDM bastion, Biya our candidate for 2025’

The supporters emerged from the conference stating that Misaje will remain the undisputed bastion of the CPDM. 

They also declared that Pau Biya is their candidate for the next presidential election.

For Kinklo Gregory, First Deputy, Mayor of Misaje Council, the Joint Section Conference, was opportunity to showcase their numerical strength and readiness to win upcoming elections.

Finklo said Misaje will only get better if it continues to support President Paul Biya and his political vision for Cameroon.

Recounting major projects

He cited some giant projects such as the electrification of Misaje using concreted poles, the ongoing construction of National Road no. 11 which is part from the Ring Road from Nkambe to Misaje, the construction of the Misaje Council Multipurpose Hall, the Misaje Grandstand, the upgrading of the Misaje Medicalised Health Center into a District Hospital and other major realisations.

‘Shun double standard membership’

The municipal authority urged supporters of the CPDM in Misaje to shun double standards in their membership. 

He declared that, there is nobody in Misaje who can say he/she has not benefitted from the largess of Minister Prof Fuh Calistus Gentry.

“There is nobody in this municipality who has not benefitted from Prof. Fuh Calistus' largess. Few of us here started politics in the days of Hon. Chief Micheal Mfume, and Prof Fuh Calistus Gentry took over from there and today we have a minister. We don’t need pretenders,” Finklo said.

‘We are on the right track’

The CPDM Section President for Misaje, Ali Tukur, while addressing members stated that, the party in his area is on the right path. Tukur expressed delight that the opposition is now extinct in Misaje.

Tukur thanked President Paul Biya for the trust in their son Prof Fuh Calistus Gentry and promised the continued support  of the section to the Head of  State.

The President of the Youth wing of the CPDM in Misaje, Ngeng Mbori Stephen, while presenting a report on activities urged supporters to be proactive.

Ngeng said youth of the area must strive to remain responsible. He used the opportunity to thank the government for providing employment opportunities to young people but appealed for more to be done.

On her part, the president of the women wing of the party in Misaje, Ntoban Renata Kongla, said the CPDM is doing well.
