Military kills dreaded Amba ‘General Poison’ in Mbonge.

Pseudo-Amba General, Nomo Mitterand, alias Poison

Soldiers have killed the dreaded self-styled Amba General in Mbonge, Meme Division of the restive South West Region.

Nomo Mitterand alias ‘General Poison’ was neutralised by soldiers of the Sixth Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR.

One of his combatants was also killed in Ngongo Bakundu, still in the administrative unit.

The duo are said to have met their waterloo during separate military raids carried out in the area Monday October 30.

It was gathered that ‘General Poison’ had kidnapped some members of a bereaved family who came for a burial and demanded ransom.

We gathered that the bereaved family had reported the incident to security and defense forces, who immediately laid ambush on him and his gang.

It was in the process that the Amba warlord was killed. His aide in Ngongo Bakundu, was also killed same day, The Guardian Post learned.

Nomo Mitterand, who was popularly known as ‘General Poison,’ is said to have been behind several atrocities committed in Ngongo Bakundu, Bole, and other surrounding villages in the Subdivision.

The corpse of the killed self-styled separatist leader was displayed at the BICEC Junction in Kumba yesterday.

Addressing the population during the presentation, the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Meme, Ntou'ou Ndong Chamberlin, challenged all and sundry to continue collaborating with the military in order to get rid of separatist fighters operating in the area.

The SDO indicted the late ‘General Poison’ for the disruption of activities of cocoa farmers and cocoa traders in Mbonge Subdivision.

The administrator stated that the late ‘General Poison’ was amongst the group of Amba fighters disrupting works on the Kumba-Mbonge-Ekondo-Titi road.

He said the group was also responsible for several acts of kidnapping, including the abduction of road workers on the said stretch of road in 2022.

“…if you don't follow the Head of State’s call and leave the bushes, then it will be a sad end for you because Meme Division is now enjoying peace…,” the SDO warned those still carrying arms.
